We stayed here for 2 nights room only Evening meal is available and was good and breakfast was ample both for reasonable, additional charge. Pool clean and lovely view of the river. We felt very Welcolm and would recommend f you prefer to be in a quiet area of the City
This isn't a bad hotel: the pool is good, the rooms are spacious and clean and we enjoyed our breakfasts; however, the following niggles made me mark it a star lower than it might otherwise deserve.
1. They advertise a free pick up from the station, but did not respond to emails either directly or through the booking agent, so we were ripped off by a tuk tuk driver.
2. Our room had air conditioning, but no remote control to operate it.
3. Despite Sri Lankan rice and curry being on the menu, we were told that it was not avaiable on two occasions - it turns out that you must order in advance (which no-one thought to tell us)
The hotel is not the cheapest despite being 6km from the city centre down a small road that even some of the locals didn't know.
Hence my three star rating.
A basic room overlooking the river with a comfortable bed. The bathroom needed attention - each time we used the shower the whole bathroom flooded - the drain was either blocked or broken. Some power points did not work and lighting in the room was poor. It was great to have a beer on the balcony overlooking the river, but there were a few mosquitoes. However, if you could brave the mosquitoes long enough there was a beautiful display of fireflies along the river bank all evening. Food in the restaurant was good in the evening, and the breakfast basic but tasty - probably the best omelette we had all trip! No water, tea or coffee in the room, but available from the restaurant.
After a 14 hour delay on Oman air travelling to Sri Lanka, we travelled straight to Kandy by taxi. Being too early to check in to our booked accommodation, we asked the taxi driver to take us to somewhere we could check straight in to. we arrived at the riverside villa at 10am and were able to check in straight away. The room was spacious and bright. The balcony overlooking the river was lovely. There was a pool which looked nice but we preferred to catch up on sleep. Breakfast was a continental buffet with a choice of eggs/omelette freshly prepared. We didn’t eat in the evening but we heard it was good.
Being on the hillside it’s only really accessible by taxi/tuk tuk
There are a fair few stairs down from the road.
Tips to improve: the air con was a bit noisy but we got too cold anyway so just used the ceiling fan
The hot water could have been hotter.
Room was very spacious and had two beds and a little balcony. Plenty of storage places for clothes etc. Good breakfast and very nice lunch and evening meals. Staff were friendly and helpful. The riverside location was lovely and you could sit alongside and watch the wildlife. Pool was a good size.
Location was a little out of town, down a long narrow road away from any restaurants.
