always wanted to go to a DUDE RANCH, wasn't what I expected. $150a night (lodge suite) for a room that was " just ok.". we wanted a teepee but were told we had to have a 2 night stay, that might have been more fun. The hotel room had a cute theme, but bathroom not up to date and not OVERLY clean. did not have that disinfected feel to it. Neighbor who apparently lives there Thumped Loud Music till midnight. wifi was an additional $10.00 a day? wow. I dont think so. Golf carts $70 for 24 hours? we had Horseback riding booked, no one told us you had to be 225 lb or less. My husband was 230 lb. so we could not ride. by that time it was too late to book Airboat ride or Mud Bog Ride. so basicly NOTHING to do! One swimming pool which was very crowded.. with COVID19, we opted not to even go there.
there was only one shop which basically sold cowboy hats and boots. the Saloon was closed due to Covid. which might have been fun. For a resort not much of any activities. and what they do have is pricey and you had to book a day ahead of time. Lucky for us we found horseback riding out of the resort 30 minutes away and we had a great time. We should have eaten out of the resort as well as there is only restaurant SmokeHouse and it was 'just ok' as well. ribs were tough and not very tasty. other than 1 maintanence guy, the stafff did not dress with cowboy attire, so no DUDE RANCH /COWBOY feel. if you are a camper it may be different as the park is nice if you just want to sit around and relax. but not if your looking for something to have FUN. also due to COVID they said they would be taking temps. no one took our temperature, most people did wear masks.
We stayed in the Glamping tents and loved it . Rodeo didn’t enforce masks well but we did enjoy it. The areas were clean and we felt covid safe. They need another pool for sure what is there is way too small. The customer service with check in was pretty bad. Curb side means something different to them so park and go in. We will go back for sure, breakfast was great, coffee not so good and the Starbucks was not good for us. We did do a lot of video so you can go check out our channel on YouTube. Check out Cruise Addict Junkie and search for the Glamping at Westgate River Ranch.
When we made our campsite reservations we knew there was only water and electric hookups. Usually, This is not an issue. Most campsites with this type of setup have clean shower and restroom facilities. This was not the case here. The employees did the best they could to clean the facilities, but as the pictures show, only so much could be done.
This situation was brought to the attention of the manager who assured us they would "bleach it down". This was not done up until the time we left.
The campsite cost was comparable to a Disney campsite but with no amenities. Everything at the resort except the pool cost more money. A 20 ounce Mountain Dew for $3.81 is a little too much.
I would not recommend this campground based on its price and facilities.
I can see why this place was empty. We were the only ones in the RV section. Don’t waste your money here cheaper at a way classier resort(fort wilderness)
No sewer hookups, no Wifi, no cell service, no country courtesy, pool closes at 5pm. Called front office and asked why pool is closed. They said cause it’s close to dark. IT GETS DARK AT 6 PEOPLE!! GO TO FORT WILDERNESS WAY BETTER SAME PRICE ON THE CHEAPEST SITES and most things are included with the site, here only the pool is included but it’s closed....I’ve camped in 26 states this is definitely the biggest rip off my family has ever camped. It does have a cool saloon and nice front office. YAY!! If you risk it just remember my review
Stayed here for a few days with friends.
The house was spacious, clean with everything in it that you might need.
The Ranch is kept well, staff is friendly, the pool area ok, lots of activities to do.
Our favourite was the swamp buggy ride, where we saw lots of animals, gators, turtles, a variety of birds.
All the extra activities, horse riding, air boat, swamp buggy, mini golf, ..are good but expensive.
You can rent bikes, tennis equipment and golf buggies (buggies are quite costly)
The only place to eat is the Smoke House, casual, good food. The breakfast buffet is ok.
It was quite in the resort as it was off season.
There is a Rodeo every Saturday night and dancing afterwards.
