We booked two rooms at Canalside Inn for a last-minute trip and were very happy with our stay. The rooms were spotless and the proprietors took great care to ensure health safety during the coronavirus outbreak. They closed off much of the lobby and have limited hours in person there and there is a keyless entry. Despite not having the personal contact, we felt very well cared for. The owners were responsive and attentive. We had rooms 5 and 6 and enjoyed sitting out on the balcony overlooking the canal, where we could walk our little dog, Bambi. Rehobeth has become so crowded and noisy over the years and it was wonderful to find this little hotel set back from the main road but quite close to the beach - about a 15-20 minute walk. It is also around the corner from our favorite coffee shop in town, Rise Up coffee. One suggestion I would make is to have a little coffee machine in the room so early risers can have a cup without needing to go out. There was coffee in the lobby from 8 am but not it was not great. Overall, terrific stay.
Took a last minute trip to the beach and they happened to have one room available. Amazing communication. All contactless check-in and they texted me with all the info we needed - door codes, Wifi password, etc. Room was super clean and in a great location, really close to tons of restaurants. Lots of little tables and chairs to sit at outside. Other guests were all friendly as well. Perfect little stay, will definitely visit this place again.
We needed a place to stay in the interim week before our closing. We had driven from Florida to Delaware and arrived late in the day on a Sunday. We forgot to complete the online check in prior to our arrival. Luckily the owner, Brian had given my husband his cell and said to call him for any reason. He walked us through the process and before you know it we were in! It’s great, all doors have keypad codes to get in. Our room was very nicely decorated and spotless and bed very comfortable. They even moved us into another room that was much larger with no up-charge. They have freshly brewed coffee waiting for you every morning and very dog friendly! The owners are on site every day and so accommodating! Loved our stay!
This place is running a scam! They are hotel owners who want to phone it in! We stayed 2 days....here were the problems!!
You cannot find a HUMAN BEING on site! Checked in with a text and A code for the room. On the second morning...the door code no longer worked...so door was open for 24 hours. Our room was not cleaned! Bed not made! No towels!!! There is a paper sign with a phone number...in case you need anything! NO THANKS! If you don’t care enough to check in....maybe you should not be in the hospitality industry.
Second morning...no coffee at 8:10....young girl shows up and makes coffee that should have been ready at 7. Six guest in breakfast room looking at empty coffee pot! We would have made it but did not know where the coffee was!! But why should we have to...we were on vacation!
SCAM ALERT! When we returned I received the attached email and invoice. They charged us more than a nights rate because my husband bled on the sheets. He takes blood thinners and scratched himself...total accident. She could buy sheets for the first floor for $$150 dollars....TOTAL SCAM.
There is a cost of doing business. Things happen. If we had been negligent that would be different!
Anyone that has traveled with their pet knows the challenges of finding a nice, clean, welcoming hotel. The Canalside Inn is a jewel. The room we had was very spacious, clean and comfortable. All of the hotel rules were explained both in the website, and by one of the proprietors upon our arrival. When we needed room service, we would put the sign on the door as we left for the day, and the room was serviced while we were out. The bathroom was bright and clean with a large walk in shower. The Inn is on a quiet side street, and while it was possible to walk into town, we chose to drive knowing we would be doing a lot of walking on the beach and to all the great little beach shops. As I read through some of the other reviews, I couldn't help but wonder if there is another Canalside Inn because we encountered none of the issues that some have complained about -- with the exception possibly of a less than abundant free breakfast. But it's advertised as a continental breakfast, and that's exactly what it is. Any time I return to Rehoboth, I will plan to stay at the Canalside Inn, regardless of whether I am traveling with a pet. As I said in my title, it's a wonderful little Inn.
