The front desk service was excellent, and the room was nicely updated and comfortable.
What we were disappointed in was the view, or lack of view! We were looking forward to sitting on the little patio and enjoying a beautiful view after a long day of driving and possibly a dip in the pool. From the pictures it looks like a beautiful view of the mountains behind the lodge, and pool area very inviting. It turned out the Mountain View is from the front door and parking lot while the patio overlooks the KOA campground/RV Park. The pool was super busy too with people from the KOA not inviting at all. It’s fine for an overnight stay, but not the picturesque secluded lodge we hoped for.
We had an great stay at this KOA. The guys who run the place were amazing and the facilities were impeccable. The pool and kids play area were great. The view from the pool is fantastic and the water was perfect. We got in late so the guys kept the pool open late for us and opened it early the next morning. Make sure you look at the cliffs at nighttime as they’re lit up. It’s a great basecamp for exploring Tahoe, Virginia City and the many other attractions. I wish we could have stayed longer but we’ll definitely be back.
The Coleville KOA was a great home base for our trip! We have been coming here for close to 10 years. We used to stay in the lodge but last year and this we stayed in the RV park. The new owners have made some great improvements! This review is about the RV sites. Sites are gravel and our premium site was level. Our site has a patio, table with 4 chairs, fire pit also with 4 chairs and firewood provided each day! Bathrooms and showers were very clean. Pool was so refreshing and heated so it wasn’t freezing! The view of the cliffs is a beautiful bonus. Store had everything you might need. We will be back next year for sure!
This is a very well maintained KOA. Lots of stuff for the kids to do and plenty of space to play. There is a pool and playground. The showers and bathrooms were amongst the cleanest we’ve seen on our road trip. The internet worked well enough to stream movies. The laundry area was clean and the machines worked great.
We checked in on Tuesday with other Airstream owners and have enjoyed three days of exploring the area as well as joining friends for Happy Hour each day. The Campground is kept very clean and offers a lot of amenities, restrooms, clubhouse, swimming pool, multiple rooms at the two lodges. The staff has been very friendly, helpful and pleasant to everyone. Our check in process was smooth and expedient. The RV sites are large, well maintained gravel (mostly level), full hookups. The on site hookups are maintained well as are the roads around the park. There are a couple of short walking trails. Three loops walking the roads is one mile. Gardnerville, CA is about 28 miles North on Hwy 395. The views around the park are awesome and so much nature everywhere. Due to the abundant snow fall this past season, there is lots of snow on local mountain tops, beautiful. For any retired military with lifetime base privileges, there is a USMC Commissary and Exchange 3 miles North of the Campground, a housing community associated with the Bridgeport Cold Weather Survival School due South. This is a pleasant find thanks to our Airstream Club. If traveling through on California Highway 395 and you need a place to stay, definitely consider this place for lodging or Rvers. There is no sites for tents.
