The front desk service was excellent, and the room was nicely updated and comfortable.
What we were disappointed in was the view, or lack of view! We were looking forward to sitting on the little patio and enjoying a beautiful view after a long day of driving and possibly a dip in the pool. From the pictures it looks like a beautiful view of the mountains behind the lodge, and pool area very inviting. It turned out the Mountain View is from the front door and parking lot while the patio overlooks the KOA campground/RV Park. The pool was super busy too with people from the KOA not inviting at all. It’s fine for an overnight stay, but not the picturesque secluded lodge we hoped for.
We landed in Reno about mid-day rented a car and headed for Yosemite, We were tired from the flight and this nice place was down the road a couple of hours from Reno. The room was nice, the check in folks and the housekeeper were all nice. It was my kind of place. You drive up to your door, everything is clean, the other guests are safe decent types. There are RVs parked in the campground. Everything is kept up nicely. Would readily recommend.
We had booked a room for one night in advance.
We arrived late in the evening and when we got to the reception, the very nice lady (I think her name is Mary) said that she didn't have any reservation under my name. At first I was speechless, but she quickly said that she still had one room left and that sometimes the booking system (Expedia) doesn't forward the booking.
So, we got the key and drove down the gravel lot to our room.
It was clean and qiet. We had a good night's sleep, checked out and had breakfast on the premises at the Coleville / Walker KOA restaurant.
Had a motel room here and its basic but clean and has all you need incudling car park by door. Nothing really to do here when we went as pool closed and town down road has one gas station that doubles as store. Gutted we nevere found Hunters River until next morning as would have gome there the afternoon we arrived. Would 100% stop here agin of travelling towards Yosemite/Death Valley.
No personal touch, seemed rushed when I checked in, when I asked for a good place to photograph with the sun going down not any effort with suggestions, wifi was so-so, no place to get dinner after 7pm! Room is nice enough - clean - large - comfortable - just under $90/night, however, which seems high out here in the sticks. I would stay here again out of necessity, but otherwise...
