Write a reviewFirst of we got to Mt. Ida very late in the afternoon. Called here and they welcome us to come stay. So we did. When we walked in we were welcomed with open arms. We talked about this and that and even got some great advise. The rooms are what you should except, nothing fancy, nothing big, and a bed is way better then a floor anyday. But honestly it was nice and quiet, but there was just one thing....the musty smell in the room. It wasn't crazy, but enough for me to notice. The room could have used a bit better once over, but again the smell is my only complaint. I will say that we did enjoy our stay. If it wasn't for the smell I would have given it all 5.

We are glad you enjoyed your stay. With the Royal Oak Inn being an older establishment we are steadily working on fixing up and freshening or target areas. We do have 2 rooms that have developed a slight musk odor. We have recently created a mixture of essential oils to target and eliminate the occurrence; and they are undergoing treatment. Again, we would just like to state, if given the chance we are equipped to handle most any issue that may arise. If ever you have a concern please address it with the office so that we may be given the chance to resolve the issue, and we would be happy to do so. Thank you for your review!

This place is old and musty. Frayed, worn Carpet. Old Towels. The Bed was awful. Like sleeping on wood and paper. No insulation in the Rooms. Traffic noise is very loud! Rate is too high, for what the Room is! Glenwood is 8 miles away and their is a great, updated Motel there.

The Royal Oak Inn is indeed an older, smaller motel, (photos of our rooms are available on our website as well as our Facebook). Where as the majority of our guests revel in the charm of our mismatched colored towels and clean and homey appeal, we do understand that not everyone is looking for that experience. In saying that, every year we are working on upgrades to beds, bathrooms, and necessary areas. You are always welcome to request a room with newer beds, away from the road or anything else that may affect your ideal stay. You are also, always, welcome to request seeing the room before checking into it, as we do understand we get the occasional guest that is looking for a more modern stay. We are always happy to redirect those guests to nearby establishments. Our goal is to support the community and ensure that visitors enjoy their best stay in the area, not just with us. Glenwood is definitely a viable destination as it is only 21.9 miles from Mt. Ida, an average of 32 Minutes. For a closer alternative you could also visit: Shangri La Resort at 11.7 miles, an average of 18 Minutes. Or, Mountain Harbor Resort at 12.8 miles, an average of 20 Minutes.

When first starting our mining experience we found this amazing rustic Inn and have aquired a safe, clean, friendly and welcoming relationship with the owners. When you arrive you’re welcomed with a warm smile and awesome acceptance. The price is perfect as they strive to provide everyone with not only a clean and safe environment but an all around welcoming, friendly vibe.
As for the rooms and accommodations, it’s perfect! When going on an adventure to generate perfect positive energies through the crystals you are exhausted and ready to settle in and have a clean room, warm shower, clean bed and if weather permitting a refreshing dip in the pool. This is just that place!!
We have traveled with our kids, friends and just as a couple and have always stayed at The Royal Oak Inn.
They are also very informative to the beginners and full of knowledge in the minerals so coming as a rookie and leaving as an experienced digger seems to be their directive goal.
This is that perfect stay tucked safely away in Mount Ida close to all the local restraunts and mines.

Thank you for your amazing review. It is our goal to inform our guests of as many vacation options, tips and suggestions that we can provide. Because we are situated in a National Forest there is numerous things our guests can enjoy and we do our best to provide that information so that our guests can navigate the perfect excursion and best memories. Rustic is a beautiful term for our Royal Oak! We may not be fancy, but we give the Royal Oak all of our love. Owner operated, we treat our beautiful Royal Oak as more of a "Home-tel" then a Motel.

I found the Royal Oak after being bumped at the last minute from another motel due to mechanical issues and the proprietors of the Royal Oak could not have been nicer!! A simple motel with tremendous attention to the guests enjoyment. The towels may not all be the same pattern but the room is super clean! I have bad respiratory allergies but had NO problem in this motel- no mold or dust, no perfumed cleaning products, just clean and neat.

We had never stayed in Mt. Ida before and this might have been the best place there. We weren't expecting much, planning to spend most of our time digging quartz in the heat. The owners were very friendly and accommodating. They had a place where you could wash your crystals, which we really appreciated. Don't expect any housekeeping though while you're there. They will provide anything you ask for: ice, clean towels, toilet paper, etc., but no one comes in to clean or make beds. My husband was a bit freaked out by the pink bacteria staining the shower curtain and was only mollified by looking it up on the internet and finding it was relatively harmless. He attacks such things at home with bleach. The WiFi was erratic and the beds adequate.
Anyway, the pool looked lovely and it was not an expensive stay and centrally located. One of the other motels had signs outside each room that said "No Crystals" - so I guess we did well. The owners were also very helpful about places to dig, so they know their guests' predilections.

We are happy you enjoyed your stay at the Royal Oak Inn. We do try our best to be accommodating and informed about the local attractions. There is so much to do, we ourselves are still learning about all of the attractions. Although we do not provide full turn maid service as a regular feature, we are always welcome to special requests. If turn down service is something you would prefer during your stay, please feel free to request it in the office and my husband and I will be happy to oblige. We do apologize for the shower curtains appearance, red clay stains everything. We do our best to remove the stains from our items, however, the shower curtains get a repeated dose of red clay and often times the bottom 6 inches has a permanent discoloration. We assure you they are clean, just discolored. Red Clay is definitely one of the down sides of quartz, but probably one of the few. The pool is delightful and a wonderful treat after a hard day digging for quartz; We are even hoping to have a new liner for next season!
