The best thing about Sonmez Hotel is the warmth, personal attention and helpfulness of its owner, Mr Ergun Sonmez, and his family. The hotel's pool and bar area are in a beautiful, serene setting and very welcoming.
This is the first place I've seen in Turkey where the pool and the bar don't close till the guests are there enjoying. In Mr Sonmez's own words "You can swim all night if you want. We are here for enjoyment and entertainment ,not for military service". That's how one wants a hotel to be, not with strict rules and timings for everything.
Bedrooms are comfortable, with AC. Buffet breakfast served in the front cafe of the hotel is fresh, fulfilling and authentic Turkish.
Mr Sonmez was out entertaining his guests at the bar at 2 AM in the night, and is again at the breakfast cafe area at 10 AM, mingling with guests, and making sure everyone is comfortable.
This is probably the secret of success of Sonmez Hotel.
Friendly host. We stayed here for one night before going on the Lycian trail in a 4 bedded room with bathroom and kitchen. We left our car in the yard with our things. The hotel has its own restaurant. Breakfast is included in the room rate. Free wifi in the area around the pool unfortunately there is no internet in the room.
Over the summer I stayed at this Hotel two times with a group of friends only for a night at both stays. if your staying for a night or two then I would recommend this as a place just to leave your belongings at so you can explore in the daytime or have a night out in the local town!
Yes it is cheap to stay at but you get what you pay for which is a standard room, Turkish breakfast is included in the morning and the bathrooms are very basic and standard. However If I was staying for a week or two I may have enjoyed the hotel more but I didn't really spend much time in the hotel. The swimming pool is at the back of the hotel and a fairly decent size with many sunbed around the pool and a bar too.
Location is in a good place only a 15minute walk in to the town or you can get a taxi right outside the hotel across the road. Many restaurants to choose from and many bars and clubs towards the bottom of the strip.
We stayed at this Hotel in 2012 of July and 2013 of August in high season. We spent 10 days each year and appriciated meals, room, stuff that very friendly, thanks to Yunus, Sheriff, Leyla-Ramazan and all the other stuff for warm atmosphere, very fitting price. Whatever you need, just ask, they will run for it. I recommend holiday over there to everyone for Oludeniz choice.
I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for a relaxing holiday. The first night of our stay we was awoken by the hotel owners fighting outside our room which also happened again on a seperate occasion. The owner of the hotel would walk straight into our room without even knocking which as two young women we found very alarming. We was constantly over charged in the restaurant ,if they could be bothered to get up and serve us in the first place. Constantly harassed to book trips via the hotel which were 3 times the price of the trips you can book in town. We was also told that if we did not pick our clothes up off of the floor in our room that We would have to leave the hotel. This is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in read all the bad reviews before booking.
