I had an adequate non aircon room.
As a solo traveller, I felt safe. Location fantastic. Lift man n overseers were helpful.
Needs improvement on ensuring rooms and bins are cleaned everyday. Bed sheets, towels changed every day or two -guests should not have to ask for these services. TV did not work. Curtains need to be washed regularly as they did appear to have been washed since they were put on!!
I would stay there always and did try to book a room for this year but the rooms are ALL SOLD OUT. Clear indication of how popular it is.

My first room was uncomfortable and I could not sleep. They moved me the next day to a nice room. No frills, but the bed was clean and the shower had nice hot water. I will definitely stay again. The roof top desk is nice and the guesthouse is within walking distance to new market and Mother house .

Stayed here 5 Nights in Calcutta with my Wife.
Good points excellent location close to Park Street & Strong Wifi in rooms.
Bad points Room & Ensuite were Dirty & they allowed guests to smoke in rooms that left a horrible smell throughout guest house.
Cold showers most days. Staff were very unfriendly & wanted to sell you a 200 rupees breakfast that was a total ripoff.
Could not sleep for 5 days as there is a 7 storey building be constructed next door that starts at 5.00am
& finishes at 9.00pm one night construction went all night with jackhammers.
Would not recommend ....

Much enjoyed my 7-day stay here. Quirky place with old lift, beautiful roof top terrace, friendly staff, clean rooms and in-room wifi. It's also about ten mins walk from Park Street Metro which is very handy for getting around Kolkata. Five mins walk from good local restaurants.
It's perfect if you're balancing budget with quality.

1. Not noisy. Good location. We stayed in the 3rd floor. It was very calm and quiet. I can vouch for that.
2. Personally I don't think u would need an AC room.
3. Do they have AC rooms?
4. Please note that the main reason why this hotel is a hit among frequent travellers to Kolkata is because it is a well maintained hotel. It is not a posh hotel.
