we were on our anniversary trip to kinnaur. while driving to kalpa, we had already planned to stay at himachal tourism hotel but on our way up, we saw advertisement of this hotel, checked out reviews online and finally decided to check out this hotel. it was lovely and wow.. beautiful nature around, spacious rooms, clean rooms n furniture, awesum food and hotel terrace to enjoy ...it was a perfect holiday.. hotel has this new wing coming up n it was awesum , although not open to tourists yet...( wid a private balcony in each room ). since we had been in nearing off season..( offseason bole toh snow fall hone par hotel bandh ho jata hai) so there were only we two and one more two...serenity coupled with budget room coupled with less of mankind n more of nature gave us a perfect holiday trip..
besides hotel staff is really warm and welcoming...anilji , the cook, the care taker everyone is so pleasing to talk and polite..god bless them ..cheers!!
We had a newly built room on the ground floor which was so recently constructed you could still smell the wood. Consequently, large parts of the hotel were still a building site with piles of sand everywhere. Our room wasn't bad and had a nice outlook, but as in so many Indian ventures, they had let themselves down in places - a large ugly fluorescent light over the bed, the TV had been hung crooked with wires everywhere, bare wires protruded from various unfinished holes, awful built in cupboards and in the bathroom, which looked good, there were chips in the tiles where they had been badly cut and not properly grouted. Also, the bottom washing pipe that supplies a cold bidet in Indian loos was too long so care had to be taken when sitting down. This sounds a bit picky but it would be good if they could get the new development right. Un thrilling dining room with average food, and a nice roof terrace with views over the Himalayas.
We received very good service, tasty food and excellent views from our rooms at a cheap rate. The staff was very eager and helpful, and always presented themselves with a smile. The whole area was freezing cold (Temperature fell to -9C) during our visit in last week of December. It was really commendable that they were able to provide decent accommodation and food. The only problem was they provided Room Heaters at exorbitant price but was not effective.
This Hotel is not in Shimla District but Kinnaur District and should be placed under Kalpa Hotels and not Shimla Hotels
The room we stayed in was good - spacious with lovely views.
The wide extenstion which serves as a porch with tables & chairs laid out is actually an invitation for people drinking out in the open. But we didn't face this problem when we stayed. Food (dinner) is quite nice.
Quite expensive place given the average cost of Hotels & Guest Houses in Kinnaur

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. This hotel was suggested to us by Banjara Camps as we had booked 7 nights at various camps of Banjara camps. They charged us Rs3400 per night for this hotel but we realised that hotel was charging only Rs1100 night for other guests. We had booked a room for 2 nights but the hotel was so bad that we left the hotel after staying there for one night. Despite paying tariff which was 3x paid by others, we were given the worst room. Room was not clean, bathroom was in a bad shape, water heater in the bathroom was rusted and had holes in it. Worst part was that manager told us that we were allotted that particular room as it had great views. However, when I opened the curtain, the window opened on a terrace which was being used as a viewing platform and so we were unable to keep curtains at any point of time. In the evening, the same terrace was used by the hotel for campfire. So, we had many drunk people right outside our windows till late. When I complained to the manager about overcharging us, he fought with us and arrogantly told us that it was the rate agreed between Banjara camps and the hotel. It was very wrong on the part of Banjara Camps to recommend us this hotel. Onwer of Banjara Camps Mr. Rajesh Ojha agreed not to charge us for the 2nd night at Kinnar Villa after hearing our horrible experience.
