On arrival we where greeted by quite a stern faced receptionist, who took an age to check us in including somewhat bizarrely examining our visas and departure cards which is not normal upon hotel check in. Once checked in we found the grounds to be beautiful, our room was very comfortable, good aircon, comfortable bed. The restaurant was very nice, on the beach and surrounded by fairy lights and palms. Very relaxing. There are sunbeds near the beach however old people seem to put towels out on them first thing in the morning. That’s fine and we where happy to lay on the sand but there is very little shade to be had. The beach itself is beautiful, sea very clear. Long beach it’s self is not quite what we where expecting, very quiet compared to Klong Khong for example. We are in our thirties and found the average clientel to about around twenty years older than us. Not many bars on the beach, more just hotels with restaurants. If you walk up the lane leading to the hotel however there are usually tuks waiting at the top and it’s about 100tb to go along to some pubs and bars if that’s what you want. Overall a picturesque and relaxing place to stay.
The hotel is right on the beach (Long beach/Phra Ae Beach), fairly close to Saladan pier. The check in was ok, we got refreshing towels and a cold pineapple juice - very nice after the hot boat trip to Koh Lanta. We could pay by card with no surcharge. The breakfast was fine, you could ask for omelets or fried eggs if they don't have them that day. There's fresh fruit and cereals. There's traditional food too.
The room furniture was not very well maintained, the bed was squeaky, the airco was right above the bed, the bathroom smelled quite bad and there was always a weird noise coming from under the sink.
We stayed in Sayang Beach Resort for 5 nights and didn't want to leave.
Firstly the location is absolutely perfect, right on the beach front at the top of Long Beach with plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. The bungalows are not luxury but more than adequate and the surroundings make you feel like you are surrounded by nature. The air con was good, room clean and bed comfortable. The shower wasn't great at heating up but in 35 degree heat the last thing we wanted was a hot shower!
The breakfast was very good with lots of choice. There was fresh fruit, a variety of western breakfast foods (eggs, sausage etc) and a variety of Thai Dishes as well - the Thai currys were great. The main restaurant food is also very good and comes with such a lovely view of the sun going down on the water.
What made our stay great was that from the moment we arrived we felt welcomed by the friendly staff who made an effort to talk with us, particularly Yunut who actually gave us a lift all the way into Saladan Pier and back (in his own free time) as we had ran out of money and none of the nearby ATM's were working with our card.
All together this is a wonderful place to stay and enjoy Koh Lanta, we look forward to returning to the island sometime in the future and we know where we will be staying!
Thank you Sayang!
One of the most relaxed hotels to stay at.
Its run by very simple, humble and accommodating people.
The property sit on a nice clean patch of beach and is very good place to see the fly by lazily.
The property is a good walk away from the town center, but taxi is cheap and easily available.
The rooms are clean and cozy, the bed is is soft and welcoming for good night sleep.
All rooms have steps, so differently able traveler please make a kind note. Though no steps once inside the room.
There are two restaurants attached to the hotel and serve fantastic food. It feels like a taste of home here. The serving staff is attentive and friendly.
In the evening you can sit by the beach and have dinner, I found this really special.
This was my favourite accommodation in Thailand so far.
We stayed in the beach bungalow so we were right on the beach.
- Beautiful room
- Amazing view (there really is no way of improving it)
- The restaurant for lunch and dinner is good
- Shower pressure isn't good. But there's a shower outside and you swim in the sea the whole day anyway
- Eggs at breakfast wasn't great, but there are cereals, yoghurt and fresh fruit. Also noodles and soup if you want to go full out oriental.
I absolutely loved it here, I didn't want to leave the resort!
