Chandra Mahal Haveli near Bharatpur is a perfect sojourn if you’re looking for some peace, tranquility and comfort.
This 170 year old haweli built in Persian style is situated in a lovely little village, Pehersar, far away from the hustle of city life. The haveli belonged to Benazeer Bhutto’s family before the partition, and the village had mostly Muslim occupants but it all changed after the partition. There is still a mosque in the village but the residents are mostly Hindus now. The haveli has changed many hands and it was first converted into a hotel by its owners 30 years ago, and was later taken over by Amritara group. The haweli is beautiful, with rooms built around a lovely courtyard. The use of Kota stone is very prominent in all the ornate decorations. The walls are adorned with beautiful oil paintings of migratory birds that visit Bharatpur. A swimming pool has been added to the haweli without disturbing its old world charm.
It’s just a km from the Jaipur-Agra Highway sand only 25 minutes from the bird sanctuary.
The food is absolutely delicious. The breakfast has good variety. Everything is prepared fresh and served with a lot of love.
You can take a walking tour of the village which is quite interesting or you can take a tractor or camel cart ride. The swimming pool is great. You also have terrace and jacuzzi in the suite rooms.
Why should you go there?
The peace and tranquility of the place and its rural surroundings transport you to a different era. The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. It’s a perfect place to unwind.
This small hideaway has all the charms of a traditional yet modern hotel. Nested in a small village once you enter the foyer you feel brought back in time. Wonderful historic pieces decorate the place. The pool offers nothing less than enjoyable recreation. Our room was just stunning and no single item was missing. Unbelievable but the friendliness of the staff still topped the beauty of the place. The food was delicious, the attentiveness of the personnel great. The place is quite except for the birds singing and the peacock’s sounds
Overall we had a wonderful stay and do recommend the place to anyone who wants to experience beauty and hospitality outside of the typical big hotel chains in a rural area.
We loved this beautiful Haveli in a small rural village. They kindly upgraded us to a suite which was very comfortable and clean. Dinner and breakfast were very nice and the village walk was interesting. The highlight for us was climbing the stairs to the roof terrace where we stayed for ages watching village life below and as the sun went down, seeing families gather on their roof terraces for a meal and a chat.
