Less than a year-old, Ranjit Vilas is a place to be in Amritsar if you want a peaceful stay away from the city’s noise amid courteous staff and appetizing food. I stayed at Ranjit Vilas on October 21-22, 2017.

The place is on the Airport Road and nearly 11km from the main city. It would cost around Rs 200 (Ola Cabs) one-way to come to the Golden Temple. It is situated in a residential area.

I landed in Amritsar at 5am (against the scheduled arrival of 6.30am). I called up Ranjit Vilas and they immediately send me a car. I had requested for an early-check in, which I was expecting not before 10-11am. But, as soon as I arrived at Ranjit Vilas around 5.45-6am, I was immediately offered the room. Of course, the first experience is delightful, particularly when one is travelling with a two-and-half year old child.

The resort is wears the design of a Punjabi village. If you are used to staying at business hotels such as IBIS or Country Inn, the room size at Ranjit Vilas will spoil you to the core. Each room is made into an independent vila with a balcony. During my stay, the resort had fully occupancy. However, one doesn’t feel any crowd and enjoy own space.

There are bicycles, which you can ride around. Ranjit Vilas has a nice lounge, which they call library, to laze around during the weekend-stay. You can play Chess and Carom too! The Swimming pool is not operational.

The food is fresh. There is no extensive menu but all dishes we tried were inviting. Though I missed Amritsari fish and tandoori chicken! They were not available. Liquor is provided at Ranjit Vilas. A Kingfisher pint costs Rs 200. The buffet breakfast didn't have sausages but there were good choice of 5-6 items such as aloo puri, poha, cork flakes, fruit and omelette, among others.

I particularly thank Mr Harry and his other colleague (I missed him name) for the extra mile of hospitality and comfort offered to us during our stay. I certainly look forward to visit Ranjit Vilas sometime again.

We stayed in Ranjitvilas for couple of days. The hotel is situated very close to the airport, it is around 5-7 KM from city center.

It's a beautiful property designed on punjab village theme, the rooms are very tastefully designed and huge in size. We loved the Ambassador car seats in the restaurant.

you can get involved in many activities like kite flying, tractor ride, bicycle ride, turban wearing etc. They offer free unlimited local snacks in the evening.

Tube-well style fresh water pool was the best pick for us, we spent good time in the scorching heat. My little one was not ready to come out of it.

The staff of the hotel is brilliant, they go extra extra mile to make guests happy, room service was quick they used to deliver in a flash, we greeted very warmly, and the staff made sure that they will inquire our comfort every time.

Only down side was the food, it didn't met our expectation specially the it was not upto the Punjab standards, the hotel needs to improve upon this area.

All in all a fabulous and memorable stay.

Having planned to drive from Islamabad to Amritsar with our three teenage children we wanted to stay somewhere relaxing that was conveniently close to Amritsar, but out of the fray, and that had more character than the typical chain hotel. Ranjitvilas could not have been better! It met all the criteria.

Although it is conveniently close to the airport it is situated in a peaceful and rural area yet within quick and easy reach of the city. Tucked away from the main road amongst the arable fields Ranjitvilas opens up through impressive ancient wooden gates. Much of this modern property has beautiful reclaimed doors, windows and furniture giving it an eclectic look with historic features from this region's rich cultural roots.

We were so warmly welcomed by all the staff and instantly made to feel relaxed and at home after a long journey. Our rooms were large and airy with wonderfully comfortable beds and fluffy towels! There are lovely touches throughout all the rooms and public areas blending beautiful handicrafts and quirky agricultural utilitarian features. (There is also fast broadband and satellite TV.)

The food on offer was delicious at every meal. It is impossible to be hungry here! There are two charming street style carts in the courtyard where the chefs prepare a range of amazing dishes. Were were offered high tea, given a feast of a BBQ dinner beside a warming pit fire and prepared breakfast of our choosing. All of it was beautifully prepared and wonderful to eat. Harry, who is more host than hotelier, was there to ensure we had everything we needed, right down to perfectly prepared tea and cappuccinos!

There is a fabulous personal touch to Ranjitvilas. It is a proper family run business with great attention to detail to ensure a comfortable and happy stay for all its guests. Our son (aged 12) delighted in playing cricket and learning to fly the traditional kite - this mustn't be missed, it's remarkable! Bikes were provided for our older daughters and they accompanied us while we toured the countryside on the back a of very smart tractor and visited a nearby farm and met the farmer and his family. There is even a fantastically innovative plunge pool heated by warm water drawn from the deep underground.

Guided tours of Amritsar can be arranged by the hotel and I would thoroughly recommend visiting the emporium that is India House, Vikram the owner's old family haveli that his wife has turned into a marvellous multi layered store with all manner of Indian handicrafts, antiques and curios.

All in all Ranjitvilas was a delight and I can thoroughly recommend it. If you want comfort and tranquility after a day visiting the breathtaking Golden Temple in Amritsar, with top quality food and charming hosts, this is the place to stay.

Thank you to all the team at Ranjitvilas for giving us a wonderful and memorable time!
