The resort is located in a huge and green plantation and the vastness adds to the fresh air and greenery to rejuvenate you. However, the resort requires you to drive through some very bad roads with no eateries or restaurants nearby. Which means you are forced to depend on the restaurant inside. With the room tariff only inclusive of the breakfast, you would need to shell out extra money for lunch (which costs Rs. 550/- per head), snacks and dinner. Which overall works out to be overpriced for the resort.
However, we had a nice stay since its an isolated place with wonderful weather and lovely greenery with streams and birdcalls. The staff was really attentive, always a call away and very helpful.
We tore one of our car tyres on the way down and hence would again focus on the access roads to the resort, they need immediate attention and repair.
We stayed in a luxury 4 bedroom bangalow. The stay was amazing and the climate too.. the rooms are having good view to the cardamom plantations. Two of the bathrooms were open bathrooms. The hospitality was good but the food was average.
If you are planning to explore munnar do not go for this, this resort is very far from the town. You will have to spend more than 1:30 hour to reach munnar from the resort. And make sure that you travel in an suv with an experienced driver. You will enjoy if you like to drive in mountain terrain.
The resort is inside a cardamon plantation. You can enjoy the climate and fresh air. Its a place to chill.
Coming to the food, Im a Keralite, I can’t afford 500rs for a lunch time normal kerala meals. I know we have to pay this much amount in a five star facility but I can’t rate this resort more than 3 star. Food is very expensive for all time meals, I managed go out and traveled 30 minutes to find a hotel and had 50rs meal. Menu is limited.
The room is big enough to occupy 3 people easily. The balcony also big. You will get your privacy. And it was clean, staff responded very quick for the needs.
The room tariff is too high for the stay, dint felt the luxury for the stay. Lacking facilities like tv, fridge, wardrobe. foul smell was there in the room while entering.
My overall rating is 3/5
We share the 4 bed Bungalow and were taken back by the location, views and beautiful bathrooms, balconies and room sizes. The large common room was big enough to have a great night together. Despite the TV being on the blink, we soon filled up our evening chatting and messing about.
Th grounds are very well maintained and despite the very long driveway in from the main road, there are plenty of trekking routes to explore the surrounding rocks, plantations etc and soak in the Keralian sunrises and sunsets.
Whilst the kitchen staff were very laxed with their delivery of food (needs vast improvements), the staff in general were very helpful and cannot be faulted.
Extremely good value for money and definitely a place to pick to unwind or explore.
I believe there is another bungalow on site to stay at and appears to be a smaller version of the main bungalow.
After chatting with the owner, she was extremely well versed about the history of the resort and surrounding plantations.
Not to be missed.
We travelled with our whole family of 8 along with the kids to Munnar. We chose Neelakurinji resort because of our wonderful first experience with them. The hospitality was just amazing. It felt like a home away from home. The staff were ready to serve anything at any time. We visited the resort first three years back and I must say not a thing has changed in the quality. Rooms are still as beautiful and so well maintained. The best part is that we realized that the room didn’t have TV only during checkout . In nature’s lap you can enjoy the beautiful sunset and the beauty of Munnar. Their plantation trekking is worth it. Also the bonfire brings a totally different feel to the place. Coming to the food served. Just perfect. Fresh and tastes as good as homemade food. I would suggest everyone to visit and spend atleast two nights and relax in this wonderful resort. My words cannot explain the beauty and the feel of the place.
