False conceptions etc...not really good as they think they are, expensive food...bad kitchen 3 forks 2 knifes. If you like the view from the lake to much lies....mmm nice pool small but cool a lot of cameras lots off stairs close to Mole beach, nice rooms and bus from the center of floripa
we were here in low season so it was quiet, and i heard that they close in June - we were here for 4 nights, but 2 of those, there was no one behind the bar and they turned off all the lights and you couldn't order food either. i think if it is low season and there is no entertainment or even lights or music or a TV playing, there should be a lowered price as the experience and atmosphere isn't there at all. it just seemed very strangely quiet and there was nothing for us to do. the beds were quite comfy and the rooms were big - we paid for a 10 bed but got put in a 12 bed dorm. the shower was warm, and there is a nice chill out area with a pool and sun loungers which was nice, and a lovely view at sunset at the bar! 5 min walk to praia mole beach - the hostel is on top of a hill and it takes about 10 mins to walk to a supermarket. the nearest ATM is about a 40 min walk away but you can get a bus for cheap! all in all, a nice hostel, very chilled but not a very good atmosphere at this time of year really. we read online before we came that they arrange a bus or something to go out at night, there was nothing like that going on when we were there
Great sunset view from the hotel. They offer night activities and have spacious rooms.
The restaurant is delicious and the staff friendly.
Near the Lagoa and to some beaches. It’s a good cost benefit.
The place seemed very secure, but this is a hostel, so be prepared to share things.
The kitchen is extremely dirty and they don’t care about cleaning it (they even joked “I’ve never seen this so clean” after we cooked dinner and cleaned the dishes).
They also have pools and private rooms.
Unfortunately this hostel is situated at the top of the hill before reaching Praia Mole. Which means that you have no choice but to get a cab or bus wherever you need to go. There are you shops or restaurants within walking distance and Lagoa is ten mins away by bus, which run every half hour.
The hostel itself was quite crappy, unless you're into no-amenities, junk-yard reception, killer stairs, silly little excuse for a pool, and uncomfortable chill out area. Dorms were very hot and unfortunately mine was right at the bottom, so it was a mission each time I needed something from my room.
The staff were majorly unfriendly. First thing I was told before check-in was "We have some rules. Firstly no drugs allowed..." First time in three years of travelling where I was ever greeted in that way. Great way to make your guests feel like drug users. It was also pretty obvious that it was just a business for them and had no intention of helping out guests but only trying to take as much money out of them as they can.
The restaurant had quite a beautiful view, but only sold beers after 6/7pm and the food was absolutely horrendous. Worst Spaghetti Carbonara I've ever tasted. The pizzas and burgers were pretty awful too and the guys I was travelling with agreed 100%.
Unless you couldn't care less about quality, and/or you're a surfer who needs access to Praia Mole, I wouldn't recommend this place.
This should be the best hostel in Floripa without question. Should be. It has absolutely everything going for it. Great central location next to several beaches, hiking trails, and the best part of the city for nightlife, food, and shopping - Lagoa. It has an outstanding view of the lake where you can watch the sunset at night from the terrace and restaurant. The restaurant is surprisingly good and very inexpensive. I tried multiple dishes during my stay and I'd recommend all of them. In fact I would recommend going to the restaurant even if you aren't staying at the hostel between the tasty food and 5-star view. Full bar and you get a free caipirinia every night. Great craft beer on tap which was awesome because I was getting sick of light pilsners and lagers.
The hostel itself is like a campus on a hillside so if you are incapable of climbing stairs often you should think twice about staying here because there are a ton of them. There is a swimming pool, fire pit, several decks, conveniently placed hammocks, beach equipment rentals, a common room with a TV, functional internet, air conditioned rooms. This place feels like a beach vacation bungalow. I don't remember what we paid for a private room but it was worth every penny and I'd call it a great value. The best part, however, is the type of guests this hostel attracts. Seemed to be heavy on young (20-35) Brazilians looking for a beach holiday. I found their company beyond pleasant, they were an absolute blast. Everybody is so friendly and just wants to hang out and meet friends.
The only problem with this hostel, and the reason why I can't say it's my favorite hostel (ever), is the staff. A couple of them were nice enough, certainly. Not one of them went above and beyond the call of the cashier. Most of them barely answered that call. Frankly, my impression was that they were overall unfriendly, unwelcoming, ungrateful for my business. It might have ruined our stay if not for the awesome hostel guests. My wife and I actually were getting the impression that they had something against us until we realized that other guests felt the same way. We had heavily considered leaving after 1 night. It's a real shame. I don't know if they are just too laid back or what their deal is. They were interested in talking amongst themselves and I always felt like I was some sort of bother to them if I had a question or even if I wanted to order food or drinks. You could sit for hours at the restaurant without getting service, no joke. Its actually that bad. There are a couple staff who won't smile, will barely look you in the eyes, just have off-putting attitudes.
If their staff got their act together I would call this the best hostel I've ever stayed at by far. Despite the staff I'm positive I'll be coming back here every single time I visit Floripa and I'm looking forward to it.
