I was there for about 4 nights. The room with ocean view was wonderful! it was like staying at the beach. The service is very good breakfast also is good. Rooms are equipped with all you need. You just cross the street and reach the beach.
I just spent 3 days in Rio for a meeting and had a great hotel experience. I found The Sol de Ipanema online and was skeptical at first because the price was higher than many others but after I had a wonderful welcome at the desk a
When I arrived, I even had a free caipirinha and a 20% discount. The whole staff very helpful and very fun..had many fun conversations with them improving my Portuguese and also helpful setting up tours and giving advice for places to go and things to do. The hotel is in front of Ipanema beach in a beautiful area. I never felt insecure there. 24 hour front desk working on our needs. The hotel provides one of the best breakfast we ever had in South America, also served in our room with beautiful flowers) and evening drinks, lounge at the pool, with the best internet conection, and more. Met some great people from all over the world there mainly due to high season. Beds were clean and nice, big towels provided, clean bathrooms. I am not sure of the pricing for normal times of the year as January was clearly higher but i believe it is the same price range as other hotels, and finding one just off the beach is quite hard. I really recommend it. I actually was quite sad to leave it this morning!
We stayed here for a passing trip to Florianopolis. The hotel is incredibly well situated right opposite Ipanema beach. The hotel even provide chairs, umbrella and towels for the beach which is great. The only downfall is the room condition and the food which could of been a lot better.
Having previously stayed in an apartment a few blocks back from the beach, we decided this time to stay in an hotel right on the front. The Sol Ipanema has an ideal location, being close to Posto 9 and only a short walk back inland to a wide choice of terrific restaurants.
We stayed for 6 nights in early December – lovely warm weather, but cloudy for 3 of our days. Clothing needed was just flip-flops, shorts and T-Shirt morning till bedtime. And sunglasses.
The rooftop pool & bar are worth a visit – especially at sunset. The small pool is just a plunge pool, but it’s amazing to be on the 15th floor with wonderful views of Ipanema beach. The friendly guy at the bar mixes a mean Caipirinha....
Beach chairs, umbrellas, towels are available from the concierge (no charge) – just a short carry across the road to the beach.
Advice – dodging the traffic can be a challenge – there is a pedestrian crossing at the lights if you turn left out of the hotel.
Breakfast – one of the best breakfast buffets we have found anywhere – hot and cold choices, wide bread selection, fruit and juices, good coffee. Attractive dining area with windows overlooking Ipanema beach.
Deluxe sea-view room facilities – good size safe, coffee maker (charge), fridge with soft drinks and water (charges), various snacks (charges), 110V and 220V electrical outlets, very comfortable US King size bed (76 x 80 inches), sliding windows that actually open wide so you can hear the waves, effective aircon., good lightling.
This is a great find and we will certainly stay there on our next visit to Ipanema.
I stayed in a 2 twin bedroom at the back of the building for 4 nights. It was a great experience.
The room was clean & the bed was comfortable. There is a safe in the closet.
The front desk was extremely helpful from calling someone on my behalf (I don't speak Portuguese) to giving me recommendations & directions.
The breakfast buffet was delicious! Lots to choose from and everything was tasty.
The location of the hotel can't be beat. It is directly across from Ipanema Beach (the hotel provide beach towels, chairs and umbrellas) near Poste 9. It is a less than 10 minute walk from the metro. It is also in easy walking distance of shops & restaurants.
There is a rooftop pool for those who don't like the beach with bar - lovely view!
I would recommend this for any traveler.
