We had an oceanfront room with balcony on the 7th floor. The room was very nice and the views were amazing. The bed was very comfortable and the shower/wet room had a handheld and a rain shower. Highlights: Infinity pool on the rooftop with beautiful vistas of Cartagena and the sea. Numerous other pools at the entire Las Americas property were well kept and staffed with lifeguards. There were many pool areas designed for children as well and many families were vacationing. The beach is amazing and umbrellas and beach chairs were plentiful. The beach vendors were aggressive the first time but on subsequent trips to the beach we were left in relative peace. The staff were attentive and friendly in spite of our limited Spanish and their limited English. Breakfast was included which was a nice perk. We did eat in several of the restaurants which were unremarkable except for the rooftop restaurant. The onsite spa and gym facilities were excellent. We chose this location for the beach. While that was a positive, the location was also a negative as a taxi was required to explore any other area of the city. There was road construction so perhaps once that is completed there will be more access to the local area but at this time we only found a couple of restaurants within walking distance. With that said, it was only a $7 USD taxi ride (20,000 Columbian Pesos) to go to the Walled City. It is close to the airport so departing flights take off nearby but you get used to it. Overall, it was a very good experience and was made very special by the friendliness of the employees.
We really enjoyed our stay at Las Americas Torre Del Mar. We stayed in a king room with an ocean view. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, the towels large, and the shower delivered warm water at a great pressure (a necessity for sand and sunscreen covered bodies).
-The gym was among the best appointed hotel gyms we’ve utilized. Plenty of cardio equipment, along with a variety of weights. It could be cooled better, though. So pack your lightest gear!
-Pool chairs get claimed quickly. You need to stake your claim by 9:30am or be forced to wait until midday, when those who’ve bronzed themselves all morning seek shelter.
-Bar prices are reasonable. A Club Colombia will obviously cost you more poolside than from the cooler carrying gentlemen on the beach, but it’s not outlandish. I’d suggest paying for drinks as you go and grabbing meals offsite, rather than going the all-inclusive route. There are a few nearby restaurants that are authentic, inexpensive, and delicious.
-That being said, do splurge for a meal at Erre. I can’t speak to the other eateries, as we didn’t purchase a meal plan. However, we did a tapas dinner at Erre and found it divine.
We will certainly stay at Torre Del Mar, should our travels bring us back to Cartagena.
We stayed in Torre del Mar. At first it was a little sketchy due to the breakfast buffet but we quickly realized we could also have breakfast in the other building and breakfast was better over there. Torre del Mar has a great adult pool on the 10th floor and we spent most of our time drinking and dancing the day away. We also used the spa, gym and nail services and had great experiences. We had dinner in the second building (I think it used to be the first hotel before they opened up the Torre) and the food was amazing. Room was comfortable and housekeeping was excellent - Ms. Amparo on the 8th floor. We had great wi-fi connection. I would absolutely return - to party on the 10th floor again!
Was in Colombia for a meeting in the hotel. Easy transfer from/too the airport. Spent a lot of time in the business center, which was very comfortable and accommodating. Main restaurant was closed for repairs so we had to go next door and eat in the outdoor restaurant -- food was good but always returned to the meetings hot and sweaty which was unfortunate. Great little coffee shop in the lobby opens at 8. Lots of equipment in the fitness center but I didn't have an opportunity to use the Spa. And the room was fine.
Best option for families! Very good facilities with kids club, mini golf, water slide, diverse and v good food (I recommend to book half-board difference is not that big compared to breakfast only is more practical with kids as with buffet they have lots of choices and works out cheaper than buying from the menu dinner we used to go to the old city so it worked out great you can ask the staff to help you booking restaurants in the city to avoid disappointment ), very good spa, gym. very attentive and courteous staff & 24 hr doctor if something happens
