Very nice view from guest room, you can see the whole coastline and a lots of greens. The restaurant was great, breakfast is outstanding especially when you have underwater view. As an IHG spire members, we got some really nice welcome setup in rooms. Guest room was open and spacious,and there were a balcony bathtub available.

We booked 8 nights at the "Club level" on the 17th floor of the Intercontinental Hotel in Haitang Bay.
1) Room: Our room is a family suite with an ocean view, a large balcony and an outdoor bath. The suite is very spacious and has a super King bed and another Queen bed. Room service is very good and the Hotel provided a daily fruit basket.
2) Club Level: club level area is very spacious and bright. Service is excellent, I want to personally thank Bella, Sam, Wayne, Daisy and Ellie for their service.
3) Restaurant facilities are excellent. There are 4 restaurants in the Hotel. I personally tried 2 restaurants, the Chinese restaurant (Tian Fu) and had amazing Dim Sum, and the The Cove Restaurant, this is western cuisine. Food is also very good. Thanks to Erin, the supervisor of the Cove restaurant, for looking after us.
4) Recreational facilities: beach is sandy and is near the hotel. Pools are clean and there are great facilities for younger kids.
The Hotel management went out of their way to cater to our personal tastes. We would like to thank Anthony Qin (Director of F&B), Tino Mo (Executive Chef) and Alex Chen (Assistant Executive Chef) who prepared amazing Italian food for us.

In conclusion, we had an amazing time here at this great Hotel and the service provided was exceptional.

Enjoyed for the privilege of being the ambassador member of IHG - was upgraded into an amazing suite with 180 degree of the gorgeous azure blue sea view. Love the club lounge and the excellent service rendered - the food at the hotel is wonderful! We enjoyed every moment of it. The hotel is beautiful and from its exterior, looks like a nice five-star resort. But the service that was received was quite bad. The first morning when we went down to breakfast, there were a lot of staff milling around the place, but not really taking care of the guests. We were not shown to a table, so kind of had to guess which tables looked unoccupied. Staff do not speak or understand English for the most part. I was disappointed because one of the reviews I read on here was that they had a group of staff that could speak English. I guess they were all away during the days we visited.

One of the two swimming pools was closed down for disinfection the whole time we were there, so we were relegated to the family pool with all the screaming and splashing kiddies. A previous review mentioned an espresso machine... there was none in our room (and we had booked a suite). All we got in our room was tiny packets of instant coffee. Also, one of the bathroom sinks leaked when used.

I would not go back to this one as I don't think it was worth the price paid, particularly in terms of service. My friend and I ordered a couple of things off the menu at the pool, and what we got wasn't what was described on the menu. When we brought it to the attention of the staff, she apologized and fixed it, but I can't understand how this would happen. Even when we checked out, we had cleared the bill and signed, and then the staff came running after us to tell us that she had not added something that we had taken from the mini bar on our first night there (which, incidentally, they did not even replenish). Really bad and slow service.

Having said that, I want to thank Sam at the club lounge for doing his best to extend the kind of customer service expected at an Intercontinental. Maria, also at the club lounge, was very sweet and helpful; we found it difficult to communicate but she still extended the best customer service that she could. If it had not been for these two staff, I would have given the hotel a two-star rating.

We had a great vacation, nevertheless. However, when I go back to Sanya, it won't be to this hotel.

Stayed at InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay for 2 nights for a business conference. This is one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had in 4.5 years in China. The hotel team were all friendly, polite, and helpful. The grounds were well-kept, spacious, and family friendly. Tried the Aqua restaurant, another beachfront grille nearby, as well as a late night room service meal...all the food was delicious. The room itself was at the end of a long corridor (corner room) and had a splendid view of Haitang Bay as well as an overview of the hotel pool and courtyard. The room was unbelievably big and well appointed - complete with lots of bottled water and an espresso machine. Room and grounds were all among the cleanest I’ve encountered at a hotel in China. Hotel is about 3 minutes’ walk from a large duty free shopping mall (with many high end brands remember your ID or passport for the tax break). Probably a good idea to brush up on your “tourist Mandarin”, or just keep a translation app on hand. Also, surprising but a bit of pollution seemed to creep in overnight (a consideration for those with sensitive respiratory systems). Room was absolutely non-smoking with no traces of smoking indoors, as per hotel-wide policy, but there were a few guests smoking in common area restrooms and at the breakfast patio area — keep the bar of expectations high-but-not-too-high. All this said, in the event we are able to break away for a family vacation, InterContinental Sanya Haitang Bay Resort is our destination of choice. It was an outstanding experience on all counts. Five stars...well done!
