Was just about ok nothing to shout about the swimming pool was disgusting on my visit all green and dirty looked like the incredible hulk had been in shower in room was poor did not eat here can't really say that I was impressed
Quite a nice place for such a price. The hotel is located on Pratamnak hill, not far from the beach. Homely athmosphere, helpful staff. Cozy rooms with balconies, air con, decent furniture and cable TV. No safe boxes in the room though, but there are deposit boxes available at the reception desk. There's a restaurant at the first floor (Thai&European food) as well. Swimming pool is not very big but clean and rather comfortable. Cleaning was made regularly, bed linen changed.
Summary: good choice if you need something decent for reasonable price.
The hotel is near the cozy beach hotel in a small soi, there is no lift and were put on the top floor room dated and paint work chipped for the money they charge you can get better quality rooms in much better places, the pool is small at the back of the hotel.
Stayed at Joy Residence in Feb 2013. Paid 600 baht a night which is approx £13 but you can get it slightly cheaper if you stay longer. The hotel is is the centre of everything at Phratamak Hill (proabably spelt incorectly!) 5 min stroll to the beach. I had large room with a balcony, large bed, fridge, air con, TV with english channels including movies. Large bathroom with walk in shower. Room spotlessly clean and linen/towels changed.
The hotel bar is very reasonable - cheaper than the bars! Used the hotels safety deposit box facility had no problems and my cousin has stayed at this hotel for many years and he has never experienced any problems.
The hotel pool is small and I never used it prefering the beach which is far superior to either pattaya or jomtiem beach and has lots ofbeach bars/restaurants.
