Room was gorgeous, with views that match the best in the world. We have stayed at supposedly five star places in NZ and have been somewhat disappointed. This has everything and more...staff are professional, friendly and just lovely; Brekkie is a great start, with fresh fruit, eggs, delight cereal, etc., rooms and decor so different, the whole place makes you smile and oh soo relaxing! Perfect birthday ! With egg shape baths on the corner of the cliff, Tui birdsong, warmth of the spring sun, with exquisite Bay views...can’t recommend this Inn enough...booked to go back already!

I had read about Donkey Bay in a couple of travel magazines and knew it was one place I wanted to visit. The architecture and the interior decoration is simply amazing needs to be seen to really appreciate. From the minute you arrive and are warmly greeted by Amelia you know you are in for a treat. We loved our room Tosca, spacious, dramatic and very comfortable. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink with Antonio mine host. The vintage Daimler took us to the the village for dinner and back. Breakfasts are delicious and the whole atmosphere was very relaxed. On our second night Amelia suggested dinner at Paroa Winery, they provided transport both ways. Stunning building and excellent food.Donkey Bay is fabulous in every way in the most stunning location. Make sure to do the walk down to their own private beach, it is an adventure of its own. Thanks Amelia, Antonio and your team we would love to come back sometime.!

After an unfortunate accident involving our hire car being hit by another vehicle during our fortnight-long north island road trip , we decided to count our lucky stars & splurge on 2 nights in the Skyfall suite. Unfortunately as soon as we arrived I was struck down with food poisoning from a meal I ate earlier in the day & my partner also got sick so we were both stuck in bed for the majority of our time there. Thankfully we had the amazing Anita, Nat, Tosca, Antonio & Amelia to help us feel at home & make sure we were feeling okay. All the staff were absolutely lovely & went out of their way, bringing us food orders from town & even powerade! The Skyfall room was absolutely stunning & was probably the best place to be stuck in bed as we could fall asleep to the sound of the ocean & lie in bed with a 180 degree view of Donkey Bay...probably helped our quick recovery in less than 48hrs! I was very glad that I felt well enough on our final morning to walk down to the private beach & go for a swim in the ocean with not a single other person nearby.
Donkey Bay Inn is truly a unique & magical place, the second you walk in it feels like you have been transported into an adult's fairytale wonderland. We are already planning when we can next fly from Australia for a second visit & can't wait to properly enjoy Donkey Bay without being sick!

What an amazing place. We spent 2 lovely nights in the Tosca Room. Amelia, Antonio, Anita and Tosca all looked after us so well. We especially liked travelling to town in the Daimler for dinner. The views are amazing of the bay. Would highly recommend
