After a recommendation from Cycle Journeys I stayed at Teichelmann's B&B while riding the West Coast Wilderness Trail with them. Stayed with CJ mid-tour and made my own booking for nights before & after. It is a lovely heritage home, former doctors residence, in the middle of Hokitika on a quiet street near the river. This means everything is within walking distance, including the CJ depot, on-street parking outside, and a great café/restaurant next door. Had a lovely room with ensuite bathroom (as all are) and started the day with a superb home-made continental or cooked breakfast in the dining room. Frances & Brian are wonderful hosts and were very accommodating. The heritage house and Dr Teichelmann's history add a further unique dimension to a lovely place to stay.

Hi Robin
What great comments !!! Thank you so much. You also were very accommodating with our need to go to a funeral. It is our NZ guests that make our job so interesting.Certainly a change from our usual International guests. Good luck with a NEW job, hope that has been successful.Thank you again for your nice remarks.'Cheers

The room was comfortable, clean and bright. It is also well located and Hokitika gives you a taste of "proper" New Zealand (which was welcome after our stays in touristy Queenstown and Christchurch!)

The thing that makes this accommodation so great is definitely the hosts Frances and Brian - they are so so friendly, welcoming and genuinely interested in their guests. We had only just arrived and they had recommended three places to eat that evening and then booked a table on our behalf. Also love the touch of offering sherry and port for guests to help themselves to in the evening. Oh and the fact that they have torches in the room for you to take on the walk up to the nearby glowworm dell (which is well worth a visit).

Breakfast was good and wholesome - all seated around one table so you have to put on your early morning sociable hat!

The building and artefacts in it are really interesting and highlight the historical significance of the building. Thank you to Brian and Frances for being such wonderful hosts.

We enjoyed a wonderful stay at Teichelmann's B/B. Welcoming hosts, immaculate room with ensuite and very comfortable bed. Listed as one of NZ's top 10 B/B for a reason! Minutes from restaurants and shops. A perfect Hokitika oasis💕

Brian greeted us when we arrived, and we instantly felt welcome. We had the Garden Suite which was beautifully appointed with luxurious linens. There was a spacious ensuite with a corner spa which we enjoyed. breakfast was plentiful and lovely. A great place to stay, thank you Frances and Brian.

We only stayed one night as a stopover down to Glacier country but Hokitika is a lovely place to stop and Teichelmanns was perfect. An older property with real character and Frances and Brian could not have been more helpful. We were upgraded to the separate cottage room with spa bath at no extra cost.
It really seemed we had stepped back in time as that night Brian was involved in a presentation to a tour operator delegation in town and was dressed in the period clothes of Dr Teichelmann.
As many others have said - breakfast was superb
