The Croft is on Milford Sound Road. We stayed in the Green Cottage, which had one queen and one twin bed. It was nice and quiet. There is a nice small deck and porch, if it weren’t so cold. It overlooks a lawn and garden area. The bedroom has a living and kitchen area, and a great window seat. This is the only place we stayed in New Zealand that had a night light in the room! It is also one of the few places that had grab bars in the shower. There is a gorgeous view of the mountains and lake if it is clear. Our hostess was very helpful and welcoming.

We stayed in the Green cottage, such a quiet peaceful setting with a great view of the hills. There was ample space for us to relax in, even the cat Peny had space on the deck. The breakfast was outstanding with homemade jam and fresh poached fruit, and eggs cooked to your liking. The bathroom is a large wet room with no steps in to the shower. Both Ross and Jane were perfect hosts where nothing was too much trouble.

Sheep, cows, snow-capped mountains, lakes, farmland, flowers - the kind of surroundings that make for a peaceful, pleasant, relaxed holiday. Never mind the holiday; I would love to call this place home.

A blue cabin with large, lovely, clean, well appointed bedroom and bathroom. A very comfortable bed that makes getting up a challenge. Large windows that overlooks postcard scenes of mountains and lakes and farmland. A little nook with a fridge, microwave and tea/coffee making facilities. A settee by the window to stretch out with a book. A mini stereo system to play your favourite music. TV and video player for passing the time during inclement weather. There's so much to like about the Croft.

You'll need a car, of course. Then, downtown would be just 5 minutes away. Milford Sound could be just 1 1/2 hours if you head out early in the morning and beat the mob from Queenstown. (Te Anau is an ideal base to explore Milford and Doubtful Sounds. It's for those who prefer peace and quiet.) There're several restaurants in town offering a diversity of culinary choices.

What makes the Croft even more special are Jane and Ross, who I'd vote for the best hosts in New Zealand. They're friendly, accommodating and always helpful. I was driving to Milford Sound early the first morning I was there. So Jane stocked my cottage with muesli, cereals, fruit, milk and a couple of hard boiled eggs so I can have a substantial early breakfast. The next couple of days, I had breakfast in their home and had eggs cooked to order.

Ross has his own business as a builder and is very busy. But he found time to help me with an important repair on my rental car and didn't charge me for it. Jane helped me with my laundry which I really appreciated. If I'm ever back this way, the Croft would be by far my first choice of place to stay.

We spent 2 nights in the lovely Blue Cabin, what a perfect location for a relaxing quiet couple of days. Jane ensured that we were very comfortable and provided far more than what was expected, even down to some beautiful flowers from her garden, which I absolutely loved! We also enjoyed watching the new born lambs and the views across to the snow topped mountains. Would definitely recommend The Croft cabins, so much more than an impersonal motel room in town. Thanks for a wonderful stay.

It was a pleasure to stay at this B & B. We were warmly welcomed by Jane and her husband, who provided us with great moments. The room is wonderful, very spacious, clean, with good heating and beautiful decor. The place is very quiet, in a neighborhood farther from the center with a beautiful view and great conditions for a good sleep. We felt like we were at friends' houses.
The location is great for anyone who wants to visit Milford Sound. We stayed 2 nights at the B & B and for this we were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the road between Te Anau and Milford Sound with calm.
If you want to know this beautiful area in New Zealand, do not think twice. This is the ideal place. Do not make a comeback from Queenstown as it will be very tiring.
Thank you again Jane, you will be forever in our hearts for providing such an unforgettable stay.
