My partner and I absolutely LOVED our three nights in the Shearer’s Quarters. We could not recommend this place any more highly and can't wait to return again!
Our cottage was charming, equipped with everything we needed and included very generous breakfast provisions. We loved eating our breakfast outside every morning listening to the birds and looking out over the vineyards. We even used the BBQ one evening which was lovely and so easy having Pak n Save so close by.
The property itself is stunning, beautifully maintained gardens and plenty of friendly animals. Pickles the cat is a really cutie, only to be upstaged by gorgeous Nellie the lamb. One of the highlights of our trip was feeding little Nellie her bottle. We also loved feeding the sheep lemons (yes lemons?!) and checking out the impressive chicken penthouse.
After walking the QCT we also really appreciated the spa pool to relax in and ease our aching muscles in the evening.
We cannot thank Michele and Marcus enough for an absolutely wonderful stay! We really enjoyed meeting you both and hope to see you again one day.
We stayed in 'The Cottage' with continental breakfast supplies (+ eggs) for us to use for our breakfast in the cottage. The cottage was very spacious - bedroom with large bed, bathroom with bath and shower, settees (2) + dining table and chairs + full kitchen. Own veranda with table and chairs - very sunny and warm in the evening and looked out on the Wither Hills Pinot gris grapevines! (Which had been harvested the week before we arrived!) Extensive gardens and pick your own citrus, cherries or whatever else there was in the way of fruit depending on the time of year! Complimentary use of laundry room including washing machine and drier. Only request was to peg out in good weather (rather than use the drier) + a restriction on times of use due to the quest accommodation nearby. We stayed 2 nights and cooked in both nights as the only drawback was the distance from places to eat - not walking distance even for a takeaway.First night we sat out in the warm sunshine and drank Wither Hills 2018 Pinot Gris overlooking the very vines the grapes to make it had come from! Bliss!
We stayed in the woodshed for two nights. St Leonard's is just on the outskirts of Blenheim but close to everything you would need. From the moment you turn off the road you enter a little bit of paradise. The track upto the main house is lined with trees and opens onto a picture postcard house and gardens. Michelle and Marcus are delightful people, friendly and helpful and willing to advise on the best things to do and see. We had sought their advice on a wine tour and it turned out to be an excellent afternoon jaunt. The Woolshed is set at the back of the property. It has a large decked entrance with a table/chairs and a gas barbecue. The quirky property opens up to reveal a large living/dining area with a kitchen. Two bedrooms, a double and two singles and a bathroom and separate toilet. There is a third single bed in the living/dining area if required.
The view from the cottage is of vineyards and mountains and a forest of rosemary runs down one side. Whilst there we managed to wash and dry all our clothes after a two week jaunt on South Island. I could not recommend this place enough, we loved it from start to finish, little things like fresh eggs and enough supplies to get you on your feet (bread/milk/eggs/Orange juice/butter/jam) all make the feeling one of being home. We are back here if we are ever in the area again. Thank you so much.
Beautiful kept property with loads of fruit trees, animals and rolling lawns.
We stayed in smallest room - which was small as stated in the blurb on website -but it lead out onto gardens and the old beautiful walnut tree.
We eat breakfast and dinner outside and it was lovely.
Eggs tastiest that I have had in years and Michelle’s marmalade was delicious- she was so helpful.
We spent 2 nights on our New Zealand holiday and this was amongst our best stop overs. The accomodating has 5 separate units set amidst a vineyard. The owners, Michelle and Marcus are great hosts and go to great lengths to ensure guests have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Our room was called "The Stable" and they had kindly cleared out the animals.....only kidding! The room was a stable at Some time, but has been converted to a very spacious, tastefully decorated room that has an ensuite bathroom and kitchen/dining area. WiFi is very good.We also had the benefit of looking out onto the orange and lemon trees as well as the lovely animals (sheep, alpacas, deer and chickens). The grounds are delightful and we also had 2 patio areas with a gas bbq. The cottages are a few miles out from Blenheim centre and well placed for the Marlborough vineyards.
