Fresh flowers were awaiting my groom and I when we arrived in our cottage and that was the beginning of what turned into 2 memorable days of luxury in the country. Ann, Anna and Louise prepared delicious, man-size portions for the breakfasts and dinners. Hearty lunches were packed for the fishermen and even one for me! They have an outstanding collection of New Zealand and Australian wines to compliment dinner.

We came to Nokomai Station so my groom could fish with a guide and catch some of the famed New Zealand trout. He fished 1 of our 2 days and we both wished we could have stayed longer for him to fish a second and maybe a third day. The fish are catch and release and photos show he caught some real beauties. The cottages are fully equipped with kitchen, living room, tv, free wifi, washer & dryer, comfortable bed, and an upgraded bathroom. The bad news was we only booked 2 nights, so we reluctantly moved on with our NZ travels.

From the time you arrive here until the time you leave you will be totally looked after in every way. We came with a group of 16 people. We arrived at lunch time and were served a very amazing lunch. Home made 100% beef patties and slowly rotisseried lamb, along with a line up of beautiful bread rolls and condiments. We then went on a tour of the farm which was very relaxing. Dinner was of a Christmas theme and the dining room looked totally amazing and festive. The food was better than any 5 star restaurant we have been to. Breakfast was fantastic and the usual farmhouse fair. The lovely ladies will take your orders and deliver your breakfast to the table. The cottages were beautifully appointed and equipped with washing machines and driers. The beds were comfortable and the shower was really good. Would definitely go back!

Do NOT miss a chance to stay at Nokomai Station. It's far and away the best place we stayed on the South Island of New Zealand. The location is an easy drive from Queenstown or Te Anau and it's so well set up that you never have to leave once you get there. (Bring plenty of groceries if you are cooking for yourself) The lodging is in stand alone modern cabins that were perfectly appointed. They have kitchens and even a washer dryer right in your room. If you don't want to cook Ann Hore and her staff serve really top notch food. We are still talking about the dinner we had there.

They have sheep galore and you get to watch the dogs work. Tons of spectacular hikes are right out your door. We used their mountain bikes to explore the valley and they have a really big section of the Mataura river on thier property. We caught some nice browns flyfishing on our own, but they also can hook you up with a local guide.

Finally, you are not going to find a nicer and more generous host than Ann. She made our stay so much more enjoyable. A+ all around.
