My partner and I stayed at Willowdene for four nights and it was the most perfect way to start off our trip in NZ. The room was extremely spacious, well furnished and absolutely stunning - we were blown away just seeing the room and the rest of the property! Breakfast every morning was immaculate and Sue really put a lot of attention to detail into what she was making. Sue and Colin were extremely accommodating hosts; Sue was even generous enough to drive us to the wedding we were going to in Bethlehem! I would recommend this place to all couples - it's a beautiful place to stay.
From my very first contact with Colin I knew this was going to be a wonderful experience. He and Sue made us feel just like family. My husband and I had never been to NZ, after accepting a friends wedding invitation we decided to book as close to the venue as possible. Willowdene was just across the road. Sue very kindly drove us to the wedding!!! Breakfast muesli which is Sue's secret recipe was just delicious. The room was more than perfect. Comfy huge bed beautiful linens fluffy towels. Large windows for natural light and air flow, met all our expectations and much more. We can't wait to come back. Thankyou so much Colin and Sue.
From the moment we drove down the narrow, hedge-lined driveway and spotted lovely Willowdene, we knew we were in for a treat. Willowdene is stunningly furnished with a great sense of style. Artwork adorns the walls throughout. Our room was very spacious and furnished in an equally stylish manner. Our hosts, Sue and Colin, were simply delightful people - such fun to visit with. Sue serves wonderful breakfasts and the table is beautifully set. Her homemade muesli is incredible! Breakfasts were such a delightful treat. She had great suggestions for both lunch and dinner and, as a result, we had great dining experiences the entire time. WIllowdene is very special, as are Sue and Colin.
We spent two nights at Willowdene at the weekend. From the moment Sue greeted us at the entrance I could tell that we had found the ultimate B&B! Sue and Colin made us feel so welcome in their beautiful home.
Our room was light and airy with views of their tranquil garden. The shower pressure was excellent. And had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend.
The breakfast was amazing -orange juice, choice of tea or coffee, fresh fruit, warm croissants with jam and butter, Sue's amazing home made muesli with a choice of yogurt or milk.... and there was more. Having finished what greeted us on the dining table, we were offered a choice of bacon and eggs with toast (done any way) or a bagel with avocado and smoked salmon. Both days we chose bacon with eggs - organic bacon accompanied by two perfectly cooked poached eggs.
The garden is beautiful with lots of places to sit and relax and admire the flowers. Or if it is raining you can sit in the guest lounge reading one of the many books on a myriad of subjects from art to cooking.
The worst part of staying at Willowdene was when we had to leave!
We cannot wait to go back and stay at Willowdene! Thank you so much Sue and Colin for having us to stay in your amazing B&B!
We loved our three-night stay at Willowdene, a great introduction to New Zealand's B&Bs. Sue was a charming, helpful but unobtrusive host. Willowdene has the air of a large English country house. Our room and ensuite were huge and light-filled and equipped with every comfort. We loved the way that little treats would appear outside the door to our room every afternoon.
Sue cooks an excellent breakfast and was able to give us plenty of helpful information about places to visit in Tauranga.
The grounds of Willowdene are a lovely, quiet place to relax if the weather is kind. The property is five minutes drive out of Tauranga in the suburb of Bethlehem but still within walking distance of a shopping centre and a range of restaurants and takeaways. Thanks Sue and Colin for a wonderful stay.
