WOW, we had a fantastic / awesome / incredible / amazing (etc) night at Peppers on the Point. Started as soon as we drove up when we were greeted my name as we got out of the car, shown around the property and then shown our room! We were lucky enough to be upgraded and had the original bedroom from when this was a family home. Then they offered to serve us our meal in our room - what better way to spend our wedding anniversary.
Decided to take a luxury weekend away to use some of our credit from Luxury Escapes. As Rotorua is close to home we chose this beautiful and delightful spot on the lake. Peppers has amazing grounds and colonial style building. Our room was large and set out beautifully. There are pet miniature horses, donkeys and sheep - pick up some carrots from the kitchen and wonder down to feed them, they are so friendly! A tennis court is available to use if you feel like some exercise. Our room was next door to the breakfast room. In the room we had a capsule coffee maker, plunger, tea bags and a few pieces of fruit and biscuits. Our suite was made up of 4 rooms - a small lounge, bedroom, shower room and bathroom with a spa bath. We paid extra for a view of the lake which was wonderful, so could wake up in the morning and enjoy the view... except for the second morning when people arriving for a early brunch (?) parked right in our way (luckily they cannot see in with the one way glass windows) There is a delightful lounge/sitting area and formal dinning room in the main entrance to enjoy a seat by the fire and dinner by night. A church is also situated in the garden and worth a look and to take photos - amazing view !
Pro’s- picturesque, clean, attention to detail, staff are lovely and attentive and the food is to die for - compliments to the chef.
Cons - the bed is very firm and pillows not to my liking. Very expensive but worth while for a very special occasion.
With our overseas holiday cancelled my husband and I have just returned from a three night stay at Peppers on the Point, experiencing Lake Rotorua like never before thanks to Ann and her team and the stunning location. The beautifully furnished lodge, lovely gardens that lead through the paddocks down to the waters edge. No need to leave the property to dine as the meals were delicious including the amazing platter we had delivered to our room. The 180 views of the lake from our balcony we're stunning in all weathers, especially at sunrise. All this and only 45 minutes from home. We will be back.
My wife and I stayed 2 nights at this property last weekend for our 35th wedding anniversary and wanted to celebrate by staying somewhere special. We certainly chose a special place - it was truly beautiful.
There were only three parties staying on our first night and just us and a family of 6 on the second night due to COVID-19.
Like everyone else, we received a lovely welcome from Lucy and had a tour of the property first followed by a welcome drink. Mathew showed us to our room which was the Main Lodge Suite right above the restaurant area with a huge outdoor balcony that offered a 200° panoramic view of Lake Rotorua - wow! The room was massive with a huge classy bathroom and sitting area and a small kitchenette. The room certainly had wow factor and we were ecstatic to be there. If there was a small issue, it would be thast at night you could hear a little bit of noise from the restaurant down below but that all finished up by around 10.00pm to 10.15pm both nights during our stay, so not late.
The room had two televisions both of which had a Blu-ray player hooked up so if the weather is dodgy, take some DVD's along or play some of the hotel's.
The grounds and gardens are lovely and we fed and patted the two friendly donkeys.
We booked the dinner, bed & breakfast package both nights and have to say that the food was lovely. The four course dinner was fabulous both nights. A couple of drinks and canapes (3 items each) were offered before the dinner then a soup, entree, a choice of two main courses and a dessert or cheeseboard. Thanks chef, you did a great job both nights! Our server was Mathew both nights and he was really friendly and helpful, thanks mate.
Even though there were not many people staying, the breakfast offering was really nice. We enjoyed the eggs benedict both mornings along with cereals, fruit, lovely little muffins and toast with homemade jams etc. You could have any coffee style you wanted as part of the deal. Tracy served our first breakfast and was extremely friendly. She suggested we have a look at Hamurana Springs, which we did. It was nice but the upper Te Waihou Walkway near Tirau is probably nicer and that is free.
To conclude, it was a fabulous and upmarket place to stay, impeccably clean and tidy, lovely staff and food, great view and although not cheap, is probably the best place to stay in Rotorua if you can afford it.
Peppers on the Point in Rotorua has the best staff! Due to weather, we arrived very late yet Olivia was waiting for us when we finally arrived with an offer of food if we needed it. Lucie was so nice to drive us to the airport in the morning to get our rental car (everything at the airport was closed by the time we finally arrived the night before). Tracey was such a warm and kind hostess each morning for breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, it was so good. Everyone loved the eggs Benedict! Except for the non-egg eater for whom Tracey found a jar of Nutella! The facility is beautiful and very spacious. We stayed in the Lake Villa. The views were spectacular. The house is huge with 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, laundry and a large living room and kitchen. My kids are teenagers so the space was great. I would have been very nervous staying in the villa with small children, though. There was a ton of glass art and decor all over the house. I'd also suggest some improvements to where the outlets are (none by the bedside in the master), labels for the lights (there are so many and we never did figure out how to turn them all off), better lighting in the bathrooms. The toiletries were nice and once I figured out how to use the machine, the coffee was good. I wish there were an easier way to get to town as I was nervous with my husband driving on the wrong side (for us) of the road. A shuttle or something would be nice. But, if you do have a car, it's less than 10 minutes to town. Overall, an awesome stay!
