Stayed at Shooters whilst attending the rugby league world cup semi final.
You need to know that this is basic accommodation at a good price. Comfortable bed and shower in the room. Toilet shared
It's noisy (& I mean noisy) if there is a function on.
Shane (the owner) is friendly and helpful with advice.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin and although it was very basically decorated, the beds were really comfy and the rooms had everything we needed - except tables in the bedrooms!!
No food or drink provided, but cafes and bars and shops were close by, so no problem

Will definitelt stay there again if I come up for another rugby game.

Stayed 2 nights in ground floor room with own shower, but shared toilet. Bed clean and comfortable. I had been warned that on Saturday night a party for 100 was in full swing in the saloon and outside, so I was ready for the noise. I joined in for a while, and enjoyed watching the "Bucking Bronco"! . Sunday very quiet. Friendly host. Parking on site. 20 minute walk to Eden Park. 45 minute walk to K Rd.

We used Shooters as a stop over on route from Auckland to Taurunga, and were delighted we did. The Manager Shane was on hand with a warm welcome and very helpful tips on what to see and do on the area, the room was clean and comfortable. Though the bar is currently only open when they have functions, the manager did offer to provide us with drinks if we wanted them which was a nice extra touch.

My only advice to travellers would be to check if there are any parties and I think at times they can get busy, and to be prepared to share the bathroom facitilies.

This stay at Shooters Saloon was completely the opposite of what I thought it was going to be (didn't have high hopes by the rating and it was cheap). We booked a double cabin (two single beds) upon arriving they didn't have that so we got a single queen which was fine with us. The cabins are basically a storage unit that has been converted into a room. Brand new carpets, great bed, got a tv in there and coffee and tea. Definitely not what you would expect from looking from outside. Owner Shane super dope guy really nice and so was I think her name was Rachel and a guy named Tiny.

Only downside which by the looks of it they are working on updating in general is the interior of the main building is pretty dingy and it doubles as a bar(which is fine it's just a bit of a dive bar) we had no problems sleeping because of noise or nothing. And the internet doesn't work in the cabins (which they only found out about during the weekend of our stay, the main building worked fine though).

Besides those couple things we would 100% still return when we come back to Auckland.
