Good job there was a spare room because they had only got one bedroom down on their list even though I booked two. The rooms were unclean and a pillow had stains on. The radiator fell of the wall, and in the other room a small heater (which wasn’t pact tested) was in the room because the radiator didn’t work, this pathetic little heater was as good as a chocolate tea pot. The light was half of the ceiling and the shower pole was lose. There was no shower gel in the dispenser and the wallpaper was ripped. The amount of dust on the furniture was a disgrace and the limescale in the shower I describe as vile. We was woken up at 6am from drunk people which there is no one to report to, just a phone to call the hotel down the road in case there’s any issues, although there wasn’t a number written anywhere to call. When we explained our issues to the receptionist in the hotel down the road, he didn’t seam to want to believe us, and replied with it is what it is and you get what you pay for. I understand it is a cheaper hotel however cleanliness and safety is what I expect from a hotel no matter how much you pay. I thought the service was rude. When we got the photos out to show him he soon changed his attitude when I mentioned the fire window hinges were cracked on the window, with a photo to show him.. we received some money back but with this all being said I don’t go to Work to earn my hard earned money to stay in a death trap! Not forgetting the front door was unlocked over night because the door lock was broken. (I’ve got plenty more photos and videos where the radiator come of the wall and the shower pole come out of the bracket) spend an extra tenner and book in at the travel lodge, I wish we did!!!

I am absolutely appalled by the state of the room we stayed in. We arrived and we're greeted by a sign on the door asking us to check in at 'Roker hotel'. After checking in and walking back to our hotel, we found that both of the doors into the entrance were open and unsecured. We entered the room and on first glance it was small and dark but seemed ok. After inspecting the room we were unhappy to say the least! We were at the very back of the building, secluded by a single door and opposite the door to our room was another door, open, that lead to the basement which was being used for storage. There was two windows, one that was frosted glass and very small with a large crack all the way through and another small one that had a view into a dirty square yard sort of thing. Very unappealing! The room had giant cracks in all of the walls and the paint was patchy. The ceiling had a giant stain on that looked like a leak and black smudges all over! The door was very unsecure and could have been easily pushed open from the outside with very little force! The light on the roof was hanging off on one side and it didn't seem safe to use! The room was freezing cold and had a portable heater in that did little to warm the it up. The door into the ensuite was a regular door and had a clear view from the bedroom into the bathroom so anyone would have been able to see you use the toilet. We were told we would get free WiFi. After ringing reception for the password it would not work, it took almost 20 minutes and 3 phone's calls to try and get it sorted and it still wouldn't work! The sheets were damp, the bed was uncomfortable and because of the issues with security we didnt sleep a wink! The floor was also extreamly squeeky! When checking out we tried to raise the issue but were shot down at every turn. The staff were less than helpful, we were told we should have rang and asked for a room change but at the point of noticing these problems we were very tired and had very little faith in not only the lodge but the staff running It!

I would not let a dog stay in this place let alone charge someone to stay here! If it was possible to give this place 0 starts I would be more than happy to! Looked generally dirty and unclean. Nothing close to what the pictures show! Vile place to stay!

We arrived at Beach View Lodge, also known as Roker Lodge(3 rooms booked.Note said keys available from the Best Western Roker.Paperwork from the Best Western Roker Hotel all printed out on Best Western paper. We were also told if there were any issues the Reception at the Best Western is manned 24 hours a day so just call and they would help. The fire exit door was open making it cold.Single room was dark, no room to move and not welcoming. We looked in the double room which was small, and again dark and not welcoming. The last room, the twin, was dark and had a strong stale mould type smell, there was no valance on the bed the bed was very springy, the mattresses were cheap and not of a standard expected in hotel accommodation these days. That was all I could say was good about the room. There was very little room to move, the drawer unit was dark black and had a piece on the top missing. There wasn’t any room to stand anything on there as it was only just big enough to house the tea tray and lamp. There were a couple of sockets but not enough for today’s need for items to be charged. We never got the television working that night but had our reservations due to the amount of leads hanging down from it.The décor was blown vinyl which I know is susceptible to knocks and scrapes and this was evident by both of the beds and wasn’t very nice. The low down window was ok but difficult to open to try and let some air in, we couldn’t leave it open as smoke from people smoking outside was wafting in.We pulled down the roller blind which really didn’t cover the window. The roller blind was also very tatty on one edge. The so called wall lights were disgusting and must convene some health and safety rules, a pendent bulb stuck to the wall. The bathroom needed a lot of work, the toilet seat and base did not match, sitting on the toilet I could have rested my chin on the sink, the sink trap was black and the plug was old and had a peculiar smell, the flooring needed updating as although probably clean it looked uninviting to stand on.There was a heated towel rail which made the bathroom really warm but there was also a chance you could burn yourself when just stepping out of the shower. My partner tried the shower and struggled to get the water regulated, it switched between hot and cold.It got so hot in the bathroom we had to leave the bathroom door open to demist the bathroom. The taps did not work very well and were noisy.I turned the tap off before getting into bed but after about 10 minutes when the tap just started running again.Shaver light didn’t work.(In my step daughters room the shaver light worked but not the main light). The “shared bedside table” was on a slope when an aftershave bottle stood on it slid off.All the doors especially on the top floor were in a dreadful state, all with odd handles on the outside. The paint was chipped, hinges were stiff and looked like the doors had been taken off to mend hinges but not repaired with paint etc when put back on.Our door would not close without a good tug and when opened it made a noise as though a hinge was about to break. The light in the hallway was dirty and burnt at the ends.Clearly the photos on their website are NOT of the rooms where we stayed. All 3 rooms we had booked were similar in décor, dark, things not working, bashed about and we were all very disappointed.Only plus I checked the bedding and I have to say I was pleased to say this was very clean and the white towels left were also very clean.

booked for 2 nights, didn't expect to have 1 bathroom to share with 12 rooms! the floors squeak badly so woken every time someone moved, the toilet didn't flush properly, the spotlight in our room didnt work and the paper was peeling off the walls the main ceiling light was that dirty it was dim.
The showers are a trickle and covered in limescale and mould also the taps havent been wiped in a very long time they have green stuff all around the tap connectors :( would never recommend or stay here again!! the photos you see do not resemble the lodge whatsoever

Having read other reports i was a bit worried about staying, however if your looking for rough and ready stay here , my room 208 was of a reasonable size with 2 single ( i payed for a double ) beds sink and small lcd tv and had a great view of the beach.
Tea and coffee making facilities in room and was restocked everyday.
No breakfast in price ( could go next door to the main roker hotel ) but was £10 !!!
Overall wasnt to bad however i think they should reduce there prices as there are a lot better places to stay cheaper.
