Turned up after booking online.
No staff in sight. Had to go other hotel to book in. Was told by other hotel staff that the room had a toilet but no other facilities. Was very disappointed to hear this as nothing on website mentioned this. Ended up transferring to the other hotel instead which had air conditioning as an added bonus.
Definitely not what I expected. I guess prices do reflect your choice.
Nothing in my Opinion. If you read the info when booking you would know what facilities are available. The room was fine and had en suite toilet and sink to wash in. 3 shower cubicles in the hall. I knew there wasn't any coffee facilities in the room so I took my own.
Everywhere was reasonably clean. Check in and out and breakfast were all handles at Kyriad hotel across car park. They didn't speak English and I don't speak French but we got by as I usually do in France. They were polite and friendly and the usual continental breakfast was only €4.5 which brings me to my point which is this.
It's not the Ritz but when I scoured the internet for a cheap hotel in the Loire the range for 5 days in June was about £780-260. I booked this hotel for £126.95 for June 16th- 21st.
So with an overnight ferry both ways I had an enjoyable week's holiday for £200 + about €200spending money. Although I was on my own if my wife had been with me the hotel cost would have been the same
While you can't fault the price of this hotel (it isn't "a dorm" as one reviewer unfairly commented) the place needs a lot of TLC and some better attention to detail. The photo of the hotel frontage is clearly photo-shopped to remove the grotty paintwork.
Breakfast was excellent for the price, reception staff were not hugely friendly but they were efficient and polite.
The room was basic with a single plastic garden chair and the showers were shared ones in the corridor (but then you get what you pay for).
That's where the good comments finish.
What we didn't expect was the lack of lighting in the corridors which made finding the light switches almost impossible, dodgy staining on the bed covers (which I hope was only spilled tea), a well worn in mattress that is in dire need of replacing and a general sticky feeling to the room. My wife refused to use the showers as she didn't trust their cleanliness. That said, the water pressure was excellent so a decent shower could be had so long as you get up early enough to avoid the wet soapy mess left behind by someone else! The reception staff did smoke right outside of the entrance which was not pleasant to walk through.
The general feeling was that this hotel is more ideally suited to truckers on a budget than anyone wanting a cheap but pleasant one-night stopover on their journey through France.
I don't think this hotel is awful as you kind of expect low grade when you pay that sort of price... but there are some things which they need to actually improve on if they don't want to keep getting more negative and neutral reviews.
The staff of the hotel was not friendly, specially the French staff on the check out. The foreigners who helped us on the check in where actually quite helpful.
The key was not working and they tried to convince us that we were not using it correctly. The room was smelling bad, the corridor smelling cigarette as the other guests were probably smoking in their room as there was no fire smoke detector in the room.
The mattress in the bed was old and overused and ver uncomfortable as the centre was lower than the borders. The second bed of the triple room was lacking a blanked.
There was no shower in the room and in fact only a single shower for all rooms in the floor. In the middle of the night the noise in the corridor was intense and did not allow us to sleep. The room was extremely stuffy and with no ventilation. All in all we strongly recommend that if you have a little more money to afford a better hotel you should definitely consider other hotels in the area, as are a couple of them around with budget rooms for travelers
Room needs refreshing, no shower, no reception, breakfast not on till 7h15 (sunday morning) depite signs saying served from 5h30.
Noisy neighbours from 3h30, impossible to sleep and nowone to complain too! Not expensive but if you can't sleep and have to wait for pre paid breakfast.... Stayed here 2 years ago and it was a lot better, won't go again.
