Lovely stay within the hotel for work. It was only for one night but the single room I had was located at the back of the hotel and quiet, just what I needed after the last few busy work days. The room was good size for a single person/room. Excellent stay overall and the staff were all lovely
Possibly the worst place I have ever stayed. Not so much a hotel as a number of rooms above a music venue which plays well into the night, making it impossible to sleep.
Staff told that I would have been informed of this when I booked, and argued this point until I produced the booking e-mail.
I was then informed that everyone in Carmarthen knows that the Boar's Head was a lively music venue, and he seemed surprised that this information hadn't reached London.
If you want a room in which you can listen to loud music through poorly sound proofed walls and watch the furniture shake with the vibrations, this is great. If you want to sleep, not so good.
not sure where to start... the owners/proprietors are very nice. He moved his car so i could park mine. This hotel should come with the warning regarding poor parking facilities; if you have a big car forget it, park somewhere else or risk damaging your car. Our room was poor, it smelt of damp, there were water stained everywhere; it was not very clean and the tea/coffee facilities were poor. The bathroom was ok, it looks like it was refurbished not so long ago, but the paint was peeling off already and the towels were just awful - very small with ragged edges and stains.
One of the waitresses was so awful that when we came down for breakfast one of the couples already sited in the dining room greeted us with 'good luck guys'. At one point i thought that i will be wearing my breakfast and when she dropped a tea pot which i picked up she didn't even say thank you. After a while we were joined by our cycling friends who thought that she was the original Welsh dragon. They had a nice breakfast but when they asked for a piece of brown toast they were 'presented' by one slice of white toast between the two of them and an angry look! On leaving another couple said to us 'lucky you!' At all points during serving breakfast she was wearing her face mask down on her chin, not covering her mouth or nose...Shame!
I stayed here last night, upon arrival I had to look for a member of staff to check in, when I seen a lady I said I had a room booked to which she asked me to come to her! Then walked back with me! I felt like a total inconvenience, I couldn’t go further with my check in until I gave my personal credit/debit cards details, she would not accept the company card as security, she said it was in case I damaged the tv in the room! I was expecting high things when she pointed me to my room I entered and thought WTF the tv was tiny the room was extremely basic, the en-suite has a make over by a cowboy by the looks, didn’t sleep well very uncomfortable bed and cold. The shower is on another level ABSOLUTELY terrible and tepid in temperature even the water from the taps were tepid. I was told to leave my room key in my room, which has never happened in places I’ve stayed. All in all with the terrible hospitality, smell, extremely basic accommodation I would NOT recommend this hotel.
Really nice place, well placed in centre of town, parking is free not many spaces but we managed to get in, mind it’s a tight entrance to get in but I was okay with my Audi estate.
Nice pub food, we had dinner and breakfast.
Room was good and brand new bathroom
Lovely place and good staff team
