My wife and I stopped over one night while driving from Cape Town to Upington to watch some of the Namakwaland flowers. The camp is located about 10km on a gravel road from the N7, but it should be easily accessible by any type of car, and definitely allows the lodge to be more remote.
Even though there is no electricity in the lodges, the accommodation was very comfortable and set up with everything that you need. Every lodge has got its own bathroom/shower with warm water (via a gas heater) and there’s also a well equipped bar on site with swimming pool and lawn at the reception area. The food was also great, and hosts were excellent. We really had a wonderful stay.
We are an American family and drove from Cape Town to Luderitz, Namibia in December 2019. We stopped for one night at Agama Tented Camp. It was a wonderful stay to break up the trip and wish we could have stayed another night. Agama is rustic comfort. A lovely, remote setting with flora and fauna all around, but an oasis of comfort as well. We enjoyed the delicious meals, kids played in the swimming pool, and loved falling asleep in plush cozy beds.
Only stayed for one night, and wish it could have been longer. We were the only guests. Beautiful landscape. Luxury tented accommodation which was clean and comfortable. The communal lounge / dining area located next to the swimming pool was lovely. Linda and her son looked after us and cooked us a very large, delightful dinner and great breakfast. Wonderful Bobotie - Thank you for the recipe Linda.
Rooms are a short walk from the pub, dining, pool area. Basic but adequate for a few nights stay. The home cooked food was delicious and plentiful, the owners are very friendly and accommodating and there's even a 'pet' meerkat to amuse the guests.
It's been 4 years since our previous visit and Agama was just as delightful as we remembered....with a few upgrades. There are now gas heaters in the tents for those chilly nights and the bar/dining room area has a glorious fireplace (and a beautiful cat) to keep away the chill.
We love the tents, the rustic bathroom and the overall location of the tented camp. The owners are friendly, organised and really helpful. The food is generous and tasty. And there are ample photography opportunities. The night sky is magnificent, the birds nesting near the pool are busy entertainers and the overall quiet is soothing for the soul. The perfect stopover point on the way to Namibia and perfectly located for the flowers. A must visit.
