We spent three nights here and for the most part were very pleased. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the staff friendly and helpful. Recommendations for things like restaurants were solid and reliable. The location is exceptional for getting most anyplace in the old city. And the entry right off a generally quiet side street was quite convenient.
The continental breakfasts were adequate but nothing special with no hot selections. And while the side street was generally quiet during the day, at night things got a bit too noisy at several times in the late evening when we were just going to bed. I would recommend you ask for a room in the courtyard area rather than on the side street where things may be quieter at night.
We spent 4 nights at this absolutely charming B&B this October. It is in an ancient Synagogue; with many original building features blended in nicely with comfortable and modern conveniences. The room was large and clean, the bed very comfortable, and there was plenty of storage space. The bathroom was nicely appointed with a walk in shower, and a sink/vanity area built into the original stone work. The location was excellent, being located right off of Lecce's main piazza in the heart of the historic area.
However, the best part about our stay at the Palazzo Persone was the interaction with the people who ran it: a daughter, mother, and father team that made you feel immediately comfortable, at home, and very welcome. Anna, who ran the B&B front office, was very helpful in helping us arrange various day trips activities in the Lecce region. Il padre, Nini, and la madre, Grazia, managed the cozy little cafe next door to the B&B. Each day a wonderful breakfast of local Lecce delights along with Nini's smooth cappuccino and potent caffe espresso, complimented by Gracia's fresh baked pasticciotto [best I have ever eaten anywhere!] pastry -- made sure your day got off to a good start.
My wife and I had a great time visiting Lecce, but it was the wonderful hospitality we received at the Palazzo Persone that made our visit to the Puglia region extra special, and will be long remembered. I highly recommend Palazzo Persone.
We stayed in the Synagogue room for 2 nights. The unit was large, with 2 full rooms. The historical significance made the room very special. Anna was wonderful, meeting us at our car to unload, park, and walk back to the inn. She was also nice enough to do the reverse when we left. Price is very reasonable. Breakfast served by Anna's parents was very good. Excellent coffee, pastries, and a limited assortment of other breakfast foods. We loved staying in such a small establishment with great people. We loved Lecce! Anna gave us excellent restaurant suggestions. Great location, stay here if you're in Lecce.
We stayed in the Santa Croce Suite. When we opened the shutters each morning, we had a fantastic view if the Santa Croce Church. Anna was such a nice host and the breakfast was good. Our room was huge with the biggest bed I have ever seen....
This is really a B&B rather than a hotel. We had a wonderful room, which was nicely decorated and very comfortable. Location is in the center of town and was quiet. Bathroom was nice with a great shower. Wi-fi reception in the room was good. Main problem is that the phone cannot be used to make external calls, and our cell phone did not get reception in the hotel. Anna, who manages the hotel, is wonderful but is on-site only a few hours of the day and not at predictable times. The bedroom could have benefited from a waste basket (there was a small one in the bathroom) and a blanket on the bed. We would definitely stay there again.
