we recently booked the Vincent hotel, an overnight stay for the 30th-31st of December. We travelled for business purposes from Scotland and having received a phone call on the evening of the 29th from the Vincent Hotel to confirm our booking, pay extra for car parking services, breakfast and book a table for an evening meal.
We travelled down to Southport from Aberdeen needing a break before heading to Plymouth. On going to check-in the receptionist announced our room was cancelled due to 'Tier' change announcement. When asked why we had not been contacted and informed of the the cancellation the reply was my telephone number apparently was the wrong number .. as stated earlier they had called the evening before to arrange extra charges and my number worked fine then, the journey to the vincent had added another 45 mins to our travel time. The hotel was far from empty and no offer of compensation or enquiry as to whether we would still require our evening meal. It was a case of ' you booked through Booking.com its up to you to arrange your refund". not the service I expected.
We stayed in the Penthouse Suite last night, the room was absolutely incredible- the nicest room we have ever stayed in. Food and cocktails were second to none, the views were spectacular and the bed was like a floating cloud!
Although we had one or two technical issues, the hotel staff could not have done enough for us. They all went above and beyond to make our stay as perfect as it could be. Even the porters went that extra mile to make our stay special.
The additional touches to recognise our hard work as key workers was also not missed and was really appreciated!
We will 110% be returning and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Southport
We booked the very good half term deal for a night away with two littles. Great room, overlooking Lord Street, milk and cookies plus prosecco on arrival. Decent beds placed in the room at no extra cost.
White Company toiletries, tea tray and Krups coffee machine nice touches.
Dinner was lovely, service smiley and efficient. Mocktails and cocktails great.
Lovely receptionists and all staff around the hotel.
A few bits and bobs needed attention but not the kind of thing worth banging on about- just minor maintenance.
Would definitely stay again.
We have stayed at this hotel many times and was always good. I know there is a lot going on for people at the moment with the pandemic but the staff were rude uninterested and made us feel like second class citizens. Never again and the person on reception on the 9th + 10th of October needs speaking too.
Are room never got cleaned even when we rang reception at tea time on the Saturday they just came with some more towels.
Upon arrival we were given a room upgrade giving us a great view over Lord Street. Autumn in Southport is pretty. The room itself, as the hotel is, is contemporary and smart. Good full English breakfast served fresh and hot to the table. We had two lunches, one a family occasion and food and service were both impeccable. (Special mention to Angie and Jack who both seemed to be everywhere all of the time!)
We had absolutely no complaints, and thank you to the management for the complementaries.
