I stayed here on Monday night with a friend and I must say the receptionist was amazing and so helpful, she was very nice and very polite her name was Zoiey, will be definitely staying here again the room was clean and very comfortable. Thank you for an amazing stay
The hotel is round the back, the waterside pub is at the front. Parking is at the rear of the building. At first this was confusing. I stayed in a double basic room. Can’t fault the room it was very clean and tidy. The bed was large and very comfortable. The staff were friendly. The breakfast in the morning you had a choice of cooked breakfast, including full English which was served next door in the pub freshly cooked to order. You also had the continental style breakfast which you helped yourself to. Great stay and better than some of the more expensive hotels I’ve stayed at.
The hotel was previously a Premier Inn and has retained the look and furnishings. It is being re-decorated though to get rid of the purple!
The bed is comfy, all you need is available and if you book in advance you will get a good deal.
Food is served in the pub next door and the menu has a fantastic selection for all diets.
Staff were all friendly and helpful.
I'd love to give this place a better rating but if you separate the hotel from the restaurant for the review, you are left with a hotel in serious need of investment. To be fair it has very recently changed owners and it is obvious some changes are being made. Good points: great quality mattress and tv in room. Bad points: room very dated with chunks out of the wall and a general tired feel. Bathroom dated but mouldy all over the ceiling too which was not pleasant. If you weigh up the price we paid and how lovely the restaurant was it was ok but would wait for the refurbishment before we go again.
Arrived in the afternoon after attending meetings in Greater Manchester, at first glance the hotel looks tired and in need of a refurb, in fairness there were some wet paint signs so they may have already embarked on this journey.
Having eaten in the Greene King pub on the evening, superb food and saved the hotel from a one star review, returned to my room on the second floor and whilst looking for a socket to charge my phone noticed not one but two Rentokil bait boxes at the side of the bedside cabinets! Tried to call reception to inform them I'd booked a single occupancy room and wasn't expecting any additional guests.....no phone in the room and couldn't get through from my mobile on their premium rate 03.. number.
To top it all off, after a somewhat broken sleep, keeping an eye out for Roland and his mates, you have to be of a certain age to get that one, I got suited and booted for breakfast at 6:30 back at the Waterside Inn only to find the door locked. It doesn't open until 7:00, which is not great for business travelers. No one at reception informed of this at check in or out.
Not on my list of PI's to visit again, and I've stayed at loads.
