This hotel is located in a quiet area. When we arrived the lady at the front desk was polite and professional. The hotel is nicely decorated. Our room had a pleasant view of the courtyard from our balcony and I was surprised it also had a bathtub (it's hard finding hotel rooms with both). I ran a bath and the water was nice and hot. The towels smelled like rose perfume and the bed was comfortable. The instant coffee in the room was actually decent. We didn't hear a single noise during our 2 night stay. Anytime we had the hotel order us a cab it arrived within just a few minutes. Every staff member we encountered was polite. We didn't have a single complaint about this hotel. It was a perfect place to unwind after a long trip and after hours of sightseeing. We didn't try the breakfast or any other amenities so I can not reviews those.
We really enjoyed our two week stay here. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. Our room was maintained to the highest standard during our entire stay. We have traveled to over 30 different countries, and have stayed at hundreds of hotels from your basic $3/night room in an unrenovated 17th century Bolivian hacienda to a $500/night room in Hong Kong. The Apollofirst Botique Hotel will remain at the top of our hotel experiences. Conveniently located near the tram line, but in a very quiet neighborhood, it was easy to get around Amsterdam, but was a refuge from the hustle and bustle of the busy tourist districts. Highly recommended.
By the way, the ambiance of this hotel, lobby, bar, etc., are all well worth staying here for.
This small hotel is located way outside of the city's main tourist area (a 10 minute tram ride to the Museum District) in a wonderful residential area with good restaurants (Bar Kasper) and shopping. The Staff is fantastic. Always willing to help in any way and extremely polite, friendly and knowledgeable. The lobby, bar and breakfast room (including the outside terrace) are just beautiful (the bar, which looks like a library, is highly polished black laqure with gold trim, red velvet and well aged brown leather chairs). The breakfast room is likewise lovely and the breakfast was a very good assortment of fresh fruits, cheese, cold meats, freshly prepared eggs, etc. The rooms however are a huge disappointment. The bed sagged and the towels were thread bare. No robes, slippers,. wash cloths or hand towels. The shower leaked all over the floor. The closet was a small, narrow armoire (not suitable for 1 person, let alone 2). The room was very dark and not adequately lit, especially due to the black curtains and bed cover. To be a true 4-star hotel, they need to invest heavily in the up-grade of the rooms and amenities.
Amazing hotel! Room was quaint but the spacious lobby/bar/garden more than make up for it. The area was absolutely fantastic; it was much appreciated to be outside of the busy city center. The tram is just around the corner, but it’s also a nice walk to get to everything. Definitely take advantage of the bar amenities - great atmosphere!
This hotel is small and romantic , perfect for lovers, couples or family, usually no kids around.
The room we staid in was a deluxe room with breakfast, every thing is perfect, the service, cleaning service, room service, and most of all modern facilities in an antique setting. This is my second time at the hotel and I am going to stick with it. The perfect hotel in a perfect city and neighborhood.
