We selected this hotel because we wanted to be close to the center of Lucca and we also needed a place to park our car and store our bike, We are so happy that we stayed here. The staff were helpful, kind, and courteous. Our room was large, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was large and the shower was strong and hot. The hotel was very clean. Breakfast was adequate. The standard fare of meats, cheese, cereals, yogurt, etc. The courtyard is green and shady, and you can have breakfast outside if you wish. The location is literally across the street from Porta Eliza. I have no doubt that we will stay here again.
We have stayed in hotels in and around Lucca many times. On this particular trip we brought our tandem bicycle with the intention of doing some cycling around the area (which was fabulous!!). I picked this particular hotel because you can park off the street in a private area (no cost) which is quiet and secure. We were able to store the tandem safely and the staff was incredibly accommodating in this regard. In fact, the staff was excellent. Our room was spacious and well-appointed. Nothing fancy but a good value. The bathroom was clean and large. Breakfast was good.
One other advantage is that you are literally a few minute walk from Lucca's historic center.
Cute place, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was more than sufficient. The room was spacious. The only thing, the small closet was small. The hotel is very very close to the city wall a 3 minute walk, which was nice
We were warmly welcomed on our arrival and shown to our room. The room was clean and nicely decorated although furnishings were basic and there was no safety deposit box.
The hotel itself is a beautiful old villa but the high ceilings and open staircase/hallway mean that any noise carries! We heard all the movements in stairway, downstairs in the breakfast room and in the room above us, right down to people shuffling to their bathroom during the night - not great for any light sleepers.
Breakfast is a basic continental and only ok. We ate at a cafe in town a couple of mornings to get a decent cup of coffee. The hotel is in a great location just outside the city wall and opposite the Porta Elisa gate. It also has parking which is a huge plus, and the staff were lovely.
Accommodation is in a fantastic location - a three minute walk and you're within the walls. Our lovely room, on the top floor was cool and quiet. The bed very comfortable and the fantastic bathroom was spacious, with fresh towels daily and a smashing shower. The gardens at the rear are lovely, we spent time relaxing under the shady trees. (There is a car park, if you are driving). At breakfast, nothing is too much trouble - fresh pancakes are made to order. Hot breakfast options are available as well as fresh fruit/salad, breads, meats, cheeses and a delicious array of pasties. You can refill your multiple use drinking bottles with chilled water and tea, coffee, fruit and cakes are available 24/7 for you to enjoy - which is a wonderful touch. We made use of the free bike service and had a lovely time cycling Lucca's shady walls. The reception staff were incredibly helpful, booking us taxi's, providing us with train timetables and an iron! Alfonso provided a wonderful level of customer service at breakfast each morning - friendly with a high level of customer service. Even the industrious cleaner always met us with a smile. I strongly recommend you stay here.
