Since my last visit here nearly 60 years ago, the hotel has been renovated and probably has changed ownership. Everything seems the same--excellent staff, good breakfast on the rooftop with its lovely view, quiet location despite its centrality, reasonable price. We arrived just before noon, and the budget room we had booked wasn't ready. The lady at the desk then gave an upgrade, where everything looked new and worked well. The maid service was always timely and efficient. Since many other hotels, under the same circumstances, would have sent us away for three or four hours until official check in time, we were most grateful for the consideration. Here you will find the best of what a well-located small hotel can offer! We would happily return
I would absolutely stay here again. It’s about a block from ponte vecchio and walking distance to all the museums. The room was clean and big. Their breakfast was good, on the rooftop with an amazing view. They also provide a cell phone to help you navigate your way around town and stay in touch with the hotel! Overall a great stay.
Della Signoria is right in the heart of the bustling Florence downtown. Near the main Piazzas, Signoria is surrounded by quality shops and a variety of restaurants at all levels. In addition its a short walk to the main Piazza and the sought after Florence art installations. Our room was a good size, clean and comfortable and has the bonus of a spacious deck overlooking the downtown action. The staff was friendly The service, Spot On,
This hotel could not be more centrally located. It is at the corner of the street that leads to the Ponte Vecchia a block and one=half away. The Uffizi, Plazza Signoria and the Palazzo Vecchia are within two blocks from the hotel and the Douma is within a short walk. Nearly everything including the Pitti Palace, The Republic Square, the Medici's first palace are all a short walk away.
The desk clerks are very helpful and the individuals who do he breakfast service are helpful, smiling and accommodating and will prepare eggs anyway that you like. The room we had was of good size and well furnished.
Our visit to Hotel Della Signoria had mostly good points but a few issues..first the positive
This is a beautiful and comfortable hotel. The pictures you see on the website are very true to what you will get. The breakfast each morning was very good. The location could not have been any better. The only times we need a taxi was from the train station and to the airport. We arrived at noon and the hotel stored our luggage until time for check in. The hotel is located about 50 ft from one of the main streets that takes you everywhere you might want to see.
The negative only applies to my husband and I, not our friends who traveled with us.
When we arrived back to check into our rooms, we were told the elevator was being repaired. Our rooms were on the 4th floor. Getting the luggage up to the room was very difficult and no help was offered by the desk attendant. My husband and I are 70 and we are in very good health and walked miles and miles on this trip...but that was a lot to request. When we got to our room...which was very nice.. the room was extremely warm and not cleaned yet. So we left for dinner and when we returned it had been prepared. But it was still very warm and the AC would not come on. I went down to the desk (elevator was working by 6pm) and was told that 2 days earlier there had been a thunderstorm and the AC on all of the 4th and 5th floors was out....which could have been shared at checkin!! I asked for a fan, called a ventilator in Italy, and they found a dusty one in a storeroom. Using that and keeping our windows open at night make it bearable.. We were only there for 2 nights and they did give us a 15% discount for the inconvenience. Our friends were on the second floor and had no problems. All in all, I understand this was something that just happened...I just think they should have offered assistance with the luggage and told us of the AC issue at checkin. Would I recommend this hotel..probably. Just be prepared for the unexpected while traveling in Italy.
