If you read the rather negative review a few reviews back, please disregard THAT one if you are a traveller who needs a clean, safe room in an albergo that is in a fantastic location! The website clearly and accurately depicts Hotel Santa Lucia. We are a group of four who recently enjoyed 2 nights at Hotel Santa Lucia. My husband and I stayed here about two years ago, so we deliberately chose to stay here on our recent trip. I booked months ago, and most of the rooms with private bath were already booked. Our friends chose the room with the shared bath down the hall and had no problems with that situation. The people who work here are kind and helpful. Breakfast is simple but all that we needed. (It is an option, so ask questions about it beforehand if you are uncertain.) Coffee was provided however we wanted--americano, cappuccino, etc. The man who worked the night shift gave us an excellent suggestion for dinner at a nearby restaurant. We are very pleased with our stay!
Once again my stay was so very pleasant. The hotel is a few metres from a busy strada but so very quiet. Room was clean, well equipped, with essential air conditioning. Staff were very friendly, spoke good English and helpful. Highly recommended.
Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and the staff were lovely, particularly a young woman on reception who helped out when I was injured. It's perfect for location and easy to find. Many restaurants near by. Room was clean and tidied daily and was perfect for our needs. Would stay here again happily.
We booked this place after reading all the positive reviews. Yes the hotel staff are super friendly and tried to help with any issues. However, the hotel is quite dated and didn’t meet our standards of cleanliness. Our room did not have a mini fridge so we couldn’t keep cold drinks in the room. There was a kettle to boil water but no coffee or tea or mugs to make anything. The shower was clogged and would not drain. The breakfast was an additional charge and was very disappointing. It consisted of dry crusty bread rolls some jams and coffee and packaged cookies. There are so many places within steps of the hotel to go and have a proper breakfast. The location was great in that it was a short walk from the train station up a quiet alley. Sitting out on the patio is not advisable as you get eaten alive by mosquitoes which seems to be a problem all over Venice. The hotel is actually the ground floor of an apartment building so no guarantee you will have peace and quiet. The people in the apartment above us were heavy walkers making it hard to nap or sleep early. We would not recommend this hotel nor would we stay there again.
Absolutely loved our stay. Affordable but really well located - close to the station and great bars and restaurants, but down a safe and quiet alley. Great host who made us feel so welcome. Shared bathroom not an issue, generally free and always clean. Large room with comfortable bed. Try the wine bar just along the alley - incredible prosecco and read good things about the food! If you’re on a budget then don’t hesitate - book!
