We have just returned from a 5 night stay at the Hotel Galileo and would highly recommend for an excellent base for sightseeing at a very reasonable price. We booked a Superior Triple room which was surprisingly spacious , we were expecting it to be a little cramped for 3 adults. The room was clean ,the beds comfortable and the bathroom very large compared to some we have had in Italy!
We had a balcony which looked over the rooftops and the hotel's outside seating area. There was no noise from traffic which was great.
We did find the room a little warm,as the weather was not cold, even with the radiator turned off and the air conditioning was a little noisy to leave on at night but no big deal.
We did come back one afternoon to find a puddle of water on the floor inside the balcony doors, it had been raining very hard and somehow had run inside but not a problem, just soaked it up with a towel .
The hotel's location is excellent , a short walk to both Termini and Castro Pretorio metro stations , or if you prefer a walk not terribly far from the major sights.
Staff were friendly and helpful, breakfast not very varied but the usual selection and plenty of it.
Would definitely stay here again if visiting this beautiful city
Stayed here for 4 nights as a birthday treat. Room had everything you need for a short break. Luckily did our research and brought a kettle and mugs etc as not provided in the room. Also need a 3 pin adapter when in Italy. We stayed in a standard double b&b ,had a balcony overlooking the courtyard seating area. Was very quiet but a little on the warm side for us. Even though it was November the temperature outside was around 13 once doors were closed room became hot. There is air-conditioning in the room also, would have to have that on continuously in summer I expect. Breakfast was ok usual cereals, fruit and yoghurt, cheese and meat, croissants etc provided hard boiled eggs which was ok but another option would be nice. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. This is a reasonably priced hotel in Rome was spotlessly clean and had parking should you require. Only a 15 min walk to bus/underground station. Plenty of nice restaurants close by too.
This hotel is close to the subway station "Castro Pretorio" and very close to Termini station. Very well located. The room was clean and well equipped. Wi-fi connection works well. Staff is very nice and helpful.
Hotel Galileo is a 3 Star hotel but in my opinion deserves 4 stars.
Don't be fooled by the appearance of the outside, inside it is modern, spotlessly clean with large spacious rooms, the terrace on the 1st floor is a real suntrap too and we were lucky enough to stay in room 108 which led straight out onto it.
Breakfast is continental but there is plenty of choice and it's a good start to set you up for a day of sightseeing.
Walking distance from the termini with good local restaurants and a supermarket nearby, we found this hotel to be in a good location for exploring Rome on foot and it was nice to get away from the crowds at the end of a busy day sightseeing.
The staff all spoke English and were friendly and helpful.
Our only criticism would be that the map they provide you with on arrival is not detailed enough, fortunately we had our own guide book and map and although the weather was glorious when we were there, our room and the corridors did get a little chilly but when we tried to put the radiator on in our room the heating had obviously been switched off.
Extra tip, you can't see the entrance from the road but it is down the driveway which leads to their car park.
A lovely little hotel which was great value for money, we booked through Loveholidays.
It does not have a magnificent front, and you would be forgiven for walking past it without noticing.
The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable.
It is a great base from which to see Rome as it is in easy walking distance of the Termini Station and the Trevi Fountain. The breakfast is continental style with bread, hard boiled eggs, ham, salami, cheese, yoghurt, cereal and various sweet pastries.
