It was easy to walk here from the station after catching the airport shuttle bus but a little tricky to find when I reached the street. It is set on a square and clearly labelled outside if, unlike me yo have had enough sleep before your flight. Excellent central location, easy to walk to all the main sights. I went during the festival of San Gennaro so it was a little noisy with street vendors and celebrations directly outside. This didnt stop me getting a good nights sleep however and the close proximity to the cathedral meant I got to see the liquified blood. The family who run it are very helpful and friendly and can't do enough for you. The traditional Italian breakfast is home cooked every morning and served in the communal dining room where I enjoyed sharing it with other guests from all over the world. It is a good place to go if you are a solo traveller. My room was very glamourous and clean. I was slightly concerned that I would be sharing a bathroom but this was no problem at all as there were only 3 rooms using it and there was no conflict or waiting. All the rooms are individually and beautifully decorated. Wi fi was good both in my room and in the communal areas.I would definitely stay here again
Had a wonderful stay at Napoli Retro. The location was perfect, right off via duomo so very central and easy to walk everywhere. 5 minutes and you are in the centre near the best pizza restaurants and bars, 10 mins and you are at the archaeological museum also just a 10 min walk to the Napoli Centrale train station.
The room and shared bathroom were spotlessly clean and cosy. The hotel is on the 3rd floor of a stunning old napoli building, there is also a lift. Every morning we were delighted to find a breakfast including freshly baked pasteries and savory cakes, along with yoghurt, fruit and coffee. Monica and her family went out of their way to help us in any way possible, they really made our trip to Napoli so easy and wonderful. I would recommend Napoli Retro to anyone visiting this beautiful city, it really is the perfect base for your holiday and a very reasonable price.
Great breakfast and quite a rustic area to feel yourself in the real Napoli. The staff was very correct and helpful. The room has no AC, to be noted. 4th floor with an old elevator that it's fun to take.
This place is just lovely! From the moment I walked in, hot and a bit exhausted from walking on a hot August day, my hosts, Monica and Valerio were very attentive; Monica offered me coffee or water which was so welcome, another evening after coming in she offered me ice-cream. They are the perfect hosts and their accommodation located a 20minute walk from Piazza Garibaldi, will make you feel like a prince or princess.
Rooms are very large in this historic 3rd floor accommodation with ceiling height French windows opening onto a little balcony (on via Duomo side), the magnificent duomo of the Church of San Giuseppe dei Ruffi opposite and all the vibrancy of the street below. The bed was laid out with fresh towels rolled and secured with a gold ribbon; it was a shame to disturb the presentation! There is also lots of information provided about attractions in the city which Valerio happily advised me of very enthusiastically.
The room including King Size bed was so comfortable and decorated in an elegant Baroque style with gilded bed frame and furniture and a huge chandelier. You are kept comfortable by a quiet free-standing fan which was perfect and so much better than air-con.
Monica works really hard and is an excellent cook. She makes the most delicious pastries and cakes every morning at 6 am, such a rare treat in hotels these days, and serves them up on the shared dining table with obvious care and pride, other breakfast items include boiled eggs, fresh fruit, yoghurt, jams, fruit juice and coffee. It is a joy to eat and sleep there and to meet fellow travellers.
I would definitely return to this B&B on my next visit to Naples. It is in a good and safe location, close to a little mini Carrefour Express and a short walk to the historic centre with all the main attractions.
Well done Monica and Valerio. Baci, xxx
I visited naples for 4 nights between 1st Augast to 5th Augast 2017. I went to naples 1st time alone. I wanted something low price but quality. I came around an found this little gem of a hotel, i had read previous reviews on what other travellers had left, an it all seemed very good.
I got in contact with hotel as my airport transfer was too much from a private hire. The hotel owner Valerio, said he would pick me up, which was great!! We had a set price of €15 .. you can also get the Ali Bus from airport for €4 an then get a taxi from Central station for €13 so in total €17 ..
Once arrived at the hotel, Valerio took me through aml the inns and outs, which was good. He told helped me alot!
My room was a twin double with balcony room, the bedding was fresh, with fresh towels every day! The room was very very clean! Regarding the shared toilet that was also very clean, much cleaner then some of the hotels ive visted!
Breakfast is between 8am-10am, which includes fruit, yogurt, pastries an lots of fresh homemade desserts .. along with coffee, water or juice. The breakfast was amazing! The homemade tiramisu was just excellent!!!
The hotel is located just near Via Duomo - which along the road u can visit the famous Via Tribunali and Via Spaccanapoli .. this hotel is in the perfect location.
The hotel is on the 3rd floor, where u can either take the steps or lift. The showers were very powerful, the hotel also has A cooler fan in the room!
For me this is the best hotel i have visited in a long time, the couple work so hard! Valerio speaks very good english but he also helps you when u need it, since i was traveling solo this accommodation was perfect, as for familys all the rooms are very big so it should not be a problem!
Thankyou for a lovely time! I hope this review helps many people traveling to naples.
