Avignon is not only a great place to be a tourist but there is a place where you can have a restful holiday as well. It has some terrific places to eat (well and at reasonable prices), an amazing history and L'Observance! What a find! An absolute gem. Nicely tucked away behind the impressive city walls and an easy 10 min walk from Avignon Central Station you find a peaceful haven yet you are minutes away from the centre. The great hosts, Jeroen and Jacqueline know how to spoil you by generously sharing their infinite knowledge of where to go and what to see. The charming old building has great character yet the rooms are modern, clean, generously sized and the bed was fantastic!
There was air conditioning in the room but the large windows with flyscreen served me just fine. The place oozes calm which is terrific if you want to read a book (from their considerable library) on de sundeck (if you don't fall asleep...) or have a dip in the splash pool to cool off. The breakfast - which is included - was a great start to the day with fresh eggs, bread and homemade jams from the fig tree in the yard. It was also a nice opportunity to share tips with other guests as it was served on one long table. Looking forward to returning soon!
