Perfect room and facilities. Excellent welcome and service. Swimming pool was very cold but in the Covid period not very important 😉the restaurant is a brasserie and the nice restaurant seems closed. We used « Voyages Privé » and received all expected.
First time to Rouen and selected the Hotel de Bourgtherould to stay for two nights. This hotel has everything. Firstly location - when you walk out the front entrance, you are immediately in the old town of Rouen. I cant say enough about Rouen as a destination. Just walking the streets and taking in the sights of the narrow cobble stone streets, markets, quaint restaurants and cafe's, delicatessen's, shopping opportunities. Endless. Back to the hotel, the staff are amazing and it is 6 star service for sure. Nothing is too much trouble, service is immediate and done with a smile. The hotel itself has endless character, yet modernised. Our room was large very comfortable and well appointed. The hotel has an incredible spa facility in the basement, which includes a huge pool, gym, sauna and steam room. The main bar area, just off the lobby is a happening place in the evening with live music. Cant say enough about this hotel. It is special occasion venue and I would highly recommend anyone visiting Rouen to make it their first choice. Only word of caution - if you are using GPS navigation, it gets a bit confused - make sure you approach the hotel from the West and turn left into the street leading to the hotel. The entrance to the parking is up this side street, where you come up to a key pad and a hydraulic bollard. Best to call the hotel ahead and make sure you know the code for entrance.
We booked a two-night stay in prestige junior suite room for a weekend trip from Paris. We heard great things about the hotel, and the hotel definitely deserves such great reviews.
Pros:
- The check-in process was smooth. We arrived early in the morning, so the hotel stored our luggage until we check in later in the afternoon.
- The hotel's spa and swimming pool were free and phenomenal
- Loved the antique atmosphere of the hotel. Impressed at how well maintained and clean the place was.
- The room was very spacious. especially loved how big the bathtub was.
- Prime location for exploring Rouen
Cons:
- Lack of wall plug near the bed
- Slow elevator. Because of this, we took stairs in most cases
- We had difficulty in ordering in-room dining. The front desk and the restaurant kept directing the call to each other saying that they can't take orders. Even after calling them twice, we were not able to order. We were told that they will call us back but never received a call back, so we just went out for food.
nice room really comfy bed, good shower and amenities. Iron and Ironing board nice touch when you have been travelling like we had. Coffee machine and kettle but had to go in search of milk as there was only a small one. Clean but the rest of the hotel seemed quite dark. lovely pool and area, the outside of the hotel was beautiful and very historic. Well located for site seeing. Helpful staff. Parking was secure and expensive but for a city you can accept it. Nice hotel would stay again if I visit Rouen as its location was so good.
We had stayed here once before and had a delightful experience. NOT DELIGHTFUL this time. The hotel is very beautiful to look at with large unique rooms and great bathrooms. However, it’s not well run or deserving of 5 stars. Our room had NO dressers of any kind, no drawers for storage of clothing. The front desk staff was pretty much officious and NOT welcoming, as were the valet staff. The fitness center and pool are very pretty, but the pool lacks a hot tub, and the fitness center has no weights or exercise machines. Getting to and from the hotel was a nightmare, with NO DIRECTIONS given to us in advance. Valet parking was the only option available, but it was incredibly inefficient. You called down for your car and it NEVER was brought to you until you asked a second or a third time. Our complaints led to elimination of our valet parking fee, but NO ONE ever apologized to us for our difficulties with parking and access. Breakfast was bountiful, but many items were undercooked. We left a day early and will never return to this hotel.
