I stayed here with my family for the second time recently .
The property is described as a Superior Apartments but it’s actually one of five houses on Munster Avenue , just around the corner from Dominick St Apartments.
The location is excellent , just away from the noisy streets of central Galway, on a quiet street with off -street parking.
The house consists of a kitchen -living-room, two bedrooms and one bathroom . There is a TV , washer-dryer, usual kitchen appliances .
However , on this visit , the house could do with a more thorough cleaning and some items need replacing, for example one of the sofas is quite dirty . More attention-to-detail is certainly required .
Ireland is generally expensive especially when it comes to accommodation. These apartments are very central but that is part of the issue. We could not sleep as the partying at a bar across the street did not stop until after 4am and this was not a Fri or Sat. Other than that it was very large and offered a second bedroom and generally clean. As long as you're partying too then it might work for you. The price is certainly right!
We stayed here 1 night. The apartment had all the amenities necessary to stay for months. We were in 18 which is the top of the building. It has a large outdoor terrace as well as a queen size bedroom, kitchen, laundry and dishwasher. The location is great - downtown and easy walk to all the pubs, clubs and restaurants. They have an arrangement for overnight parking (24 hr) for 10 euro. Street parking free from 6pm - 8:30am. The price for all this was very reasonable.Service was very polite and helpful.
The apartments are nice but we got one with a filthy couch that we had to cover with a sheet and the lamp in the living room was broken so we only had overhead florescent light. However, the staff was friendly and the price right. The location is very convenient but beware of the fact that it is just across the street from a club that parties until 4 am, so sleep is a bit tough. It's very loud.
I stayed here for 11 nights on business- in apartment 4 to be specific (one-bedroom apt) and honestly the word that sums it up best is GRAND. Now apartment 4 windows are not looking out onto the street- but you do still get night-time noise from the Roisin Dubh- this is to be expected given that you are staying in a prime location near Monroe's, the Roisin, a few other pubs and clubs...honestly it only woke me up on the first night. I definitely got used to it and it was definitely not the worst by any means.
Considering you're really not paying that much you get a very spacious apartment. You get plenty of storage. You get Wi-Fi (good quality at that) at no extra cost. You get towels, a decent hairdryer, a very comfortable bed, a shower with good pressure and a TV with about six channels (at least in the apartment I was staying in).
Yes its a pain that there are stairs but honestly I think its something you can get over. There's one-two flights of stairs, the staff offer to help you with your luggage when you check in and are very friendly. i think this would be great short-term accommodation for tourists- its really close to Spanish Arch, a lot of the pubs and clubs, Salthill Prom and the city-centre itself. I believe the advantages definitely outweigh the little annoyances.
