This hotel used to be lovely. It’s very dirty in all areas. Room smelled of dogs and very unkept. The bathroom was particularly shocking with rust and mould in many areas. The windows were that dirty you could not see out. This hotel is in need of some investment. It was not a good experience at all.

Second time we have stayed here as we have a dog so it’s definitely a plus on that front. Room 20 is very spacious with everything I it you could possibly need and for £60 room only, it’s priced very well too. We avoided breakfast as made that mistake last time but there are tons of alternative places for breakfast down the road. The team are always very friendly and it’s excellent value for money. I would highly recommend for any dog owners especially room 20. It’s a no frills well priced hotel in Newquay so it gets our recommendation just for that.

Cancelled Festival but still made the trip as couldn't cancel last min but was still hoping for a nice weekend away with the Mrs.
Paid for a room with a sea view but due to a wedding being on they was taken so had to take what rooms they had left!
when we finally got onto our room I was very disappointed with how it looked the carpets were dirty so was the bathroom our bed felt like it was so old that any sudden movement and the thing was gonna fall apart and to top the room off the window in the didn't lock!
The pool was horrendous to there was mould around the tiles in the water and it had a funny smell? Safe to say we didn't stay in there long!
I paid nearly £500 for the 3 nights and can honestly so I will NEVER be going back

Due to the wedding being on that weekend there was hardly any staff to ask for help with any my issues and if honest if u wasn't part of the wedding party they didn't care
Getting a drink at the bar was a joke! no breakfast was offered and no evening meal was available again due to the wedding!

All in all very unhappy if looking for places to stay in Newquay defo look else where

So where to start

Cancelled festival, however we still went because we could cancel!

Over paid because of highten prices last year because of festival.

Plus a wedding at the hotel.

We paid well over the hotel prices of any website at least £100 - £150 over for two rooms and not even a breakfast.

Rooms dated, however bathroom and shower room good, hotel part I couldn't even tell room that food was available or not!!!
Or even just get a cup of tea in the morning, due to the fact the staff where all busy with the wedding.

The only save was the view from outside.

Offered so much, however came very short on most points.

Response from GLENDORGAL, Manager at Glendorgal Hotel
Responded 22 Aug 2019
Good afternoon Jev, Firstly I would just like to say thank you for still coming and staying with us even after the festival was cancelled, Newquay relied on people like you and for that we are grateful. With regards to the price of the hotel room that you booked, the prices for said rooms are very normal for not only this time of year, but with consideration of the festival and the location, this price (£100-£150) is very good. We do offer a breakfast included option but this is not what you booked, thus why breakfast was not included in your ROOM ONLY rate. Furthermore, I hope you will accept our apologises with regards to the wedding however this was a pre-booked event that had been placed on hold a long time before we even started taking bookings for private guests for thus summer and therefore, we could not help that this event was on during your stay. As mentioned, it is a very busy time of year. Please do note that our reception and bar staff are always more than happy to make teas, coffees and other drinks for guests even when there is an event taking place as we do value all of our guests. If you did not want to sit downstairs due to the wedding the staff are always more than happy to top up any coffee or milk in your rooms to accommodate your needs. I hope this clarifies any problems that you had, Reception at the Glendorgal.

Stayed here for one night only ! So pleased only the one night . Good bits are the location is ok as near the beach . Also the car parking was good . The room was very shabby , the beds mattress had collapsed and there was a hole in it . We arrived late evening and said that the mattress was broken but they were apparently full and couldn’t do anything for us . We had booked a room to take our dog so we were quite limited to book somewhere new at such short notice . The whole room was depressing . The radiator in the shower room for instance was covered in rust . The sofa had collapsed and wasn’t really serviceable . We didn’t have breakfast and checked out early to go somewhere nice to have a cup of tea . The whole place needs updating and money spending on it . Shame as could be made nice .

Dear Susan Brock, We are very sorry that you did not enjoy your stay at the Glendorgal Hotel. By the sounds of your review, this room was not up to the standards we hold at this establishment and can only apologise for that. Kind regards, Reservations.
