This is a brand new hotel an it is obvious a lot of money and planning went into it.
It's our second stay at this establishing which should hold title to the classiest hotel in the area. The rooms are new and very clean. There is a good restaurant, a bar, pool, spa, etc.
If you want a dressing gown they will rent you one for 50% of what they charge for a new one. If you are a couple they supply you with two coffee pods and charge you $2.00 for each additional one. Charge more rent and include these costs. Rents are reasonable and an additional $20.00 per night might help the reputation of the business.
The evening I arrived there had been freezing rain, The city streets had all been salted but their property was a skating ring. Two employees were inside but none offered to help.I had to check in early as I was warned that the doors closed at 11:00 pm and a key would be required after closing to gain access to the building.
My request for a late checkout was graciously granted
It was during the Christmas holidays. The hotel did not seem to be very occupied (probably why they were closing early) and I expected to be arriving late. What I did not expect, nor appreciate , was a phone call 15 minutes before the regular leaving time and the chambermaid's equipment blocking my door when I left 30 minutes before it had been agreed upon.
This is a nice property with a lot to offer, such as a spa, beach, water sports, gym rock climbing, and plenty of halls to host events. There are also 2 restaurants in the lobby (although the nicer one was closed while we were there... so much for a romantic anniversary dinner).
It's a very modern hotel the lobby is really nice and the rooms are sleek and comfortable. Each room has a balcony and an open floor design for maximum lighting when you want it. I love that there are nespresso machines and pods in every room.
When you drive up from outside you don't know if it's a hotel or a hospital or an apartment building. But it doesn't take away from the hotel.
The food at the restaurant was good and the service too. They miss out a little on not having a proper cocktail menu, however with their full bar there is plenty to choose from. We got the "gourmand" meal package, the choice of food was good and it was plenty of food. They are accommodating to gluten sensitivity, and many items lturn out not to have gluten in the ingredients.
Some things that were wrong with this place need to be put out there the most important being the insulation between the floors are nonexistant. At 7:30AM we had high heels pounding back and forth for over an hour in the room above us. So no sleeping in unless your on the top floor.
Another thing that made no sense is that you invest 100s of millions of dollars in a huge facility, decide that the lobby is worth investing in a nice pool table, but cut corners on pool sticks. There were no sticks. There was a short stick for tight areas, which there are none, and the one and only stick they had, which was in the administration office, was crooked and the tip broken. I can't understand with the space they have, there isn't even a single rack for sticks. Granted it's a hotel lobby not a pool hall but if your going to invest in a pool table, then spend a few bucks on some good sticks so your guests can use it.
All that being said it is a nice place which I will stay at again and go to while I'm in Thetford Mines. I really enjoyed my stay.
N.B. this place also falls victim of the common problem in Thetford Mines which is not enough staff, which is no fault of the hotels, and did not significantly impact the service we had.
We were visiting family and decided to spend one evening and get to try this new hotel built ~two years ago.
When we reserved we were asked to make a deposit of $61.00 which was promptly cashed. When we checked in my wife was asked to pay the full charge for the room ($305.23) with no allowance made for the deposit.
When we got to the room we expected, for the price being charged, to find dressing gowns or bathrobes in order to use the swimming pool. We were informed that they could be had for $50.00 each.
I am now awaiting to be reimbursed my deposit on my credit card.
What a great hotel, brand new. We went in winter on our snowmobiles. Beautiful and big lobby, personnel really nice and helpful. The rooms are REALLY nice. The beds are the most confortable, the rooms are nicely decorated. There is two restaurants, one is a steak house, nice menu but a bit expensive and there is a pub restaurant, that's where I had supper. Nice menu and the price is ok. Had breakfast at the steak house, really good and lots in the plate. There is a spa there with many pools and hot tubs, but I didn't go. I really enjoyed my stay and shall go again for sure.
Nice, Modern, Spacious, New + Outdoor Pool and Gym
Morning air is fresh with the smell of pine trees, almost feels you're deep in the woods somewhere. Yet you're 5 minutes to the center of town.
