When we arrived we were told we were early and they were obviously not pleased. The room was lovely... but dirty! The beautiful balcony which had a kitchen area for making drinks, was covered in what we thought were rat droppings and when we mentioned this the manager just said No - they're squirrels! The room was not cleaned (we stayed 2 nights) The owner was away on the first night but on his return asked how we had enjoed the farm tour - this had not been offered. We had 2 severe leaks fromn the water tank - one of which entered the bedroom. They seemed completely disinterested. The beautiful pool was cloudy and had just 3 hard backed chairs (no loungers) We asked for a 4th as there were 4 of us - nothing happened. The second day we asked again at lunchtime, and a 4th hard back chair arrived at 5pm when the pool filter was turned on for the first time! This place has such good potential but it was pretty poor. There was no-one else staying so were not busy. They are building additional accomodation and we were disturned early on our final morning by building work. Worst of all - they did not offer our driver any food or even a drink. This is a long way from the nearest village so he had nothing to eat until we went out the next day.
This place is the pits - really. The owner is both odious and rude in equal measures. We arrived and were hustled in to a pretty poor lunch by the standards we are used to in India, and it was expensive too! The room was terrible, old and tired, mould in the bathroom, a very basic shower with no pressure and cold when we went to look. The swimming pool was a green, cloudy mess or bacteria, unsafe to go in and there was a noisy building site right in front of our room, which made it impossible to sit out on the terrace and spending time in this horrible room was not a nice thought, so we decided to leave as the place was a complete lie as per what was announced on Booking.com - there was no wifi, except at 150 meters at the owners house. The place could be good, but it just is not, it is TERRIBLE. The manager Krishna is nice, but the owner, whose son boated about multi million dollar property deals and how rich the family is, debated for 3 hours about being paid in full for 2 night's stay, which we refused, but had to pay for a night that we didn't stay there. We finally left after the owner, who became more and more rude and odious, left us to the manager. We went to the Coco Lagoon resort, which was fabulous, and I suggest anybody else does too - this place really is bad and they have no notion on customer service - they are clearly so poor that all they have is money!
A Review of Banyan Farm Resort
If any one around the world and India specially , is looking for a quiet and a homely family holiday in southern part of India ,at an affordable cost , this is one place they should check out .
The Banyan farm resort home stay is located inside a 500 acre farm just at the foot hills of the Anamalai hill range . in Pollachi ,Tamil nadu and is abundant with Coconut , Arcanut , cocoa , fruit trees, flowering trees and banyan trees in addition to many native wild trees.
Mr Prabhu is the 4th generation in the family to own this farm now and his wife Ms Jayanthi assists him in running the Home stay and the farm .Their Son Abhishek has just joined their enterprise after completing his Business administration .
The USP Of this home stay is hospitality, quiet and green surrounding that is filled with lots of flora and fauna.
The owner is a lover of nature and he believes his guests must experience nature in its very best without interference of modern day electronics
Like TV and Internet .
That is the reason, why the six Ac double rooms on offer, three in the ground floor and three in the first floor , is devoid of these facilities. The rooms itself are very comfortable , spacious and clean .
Frankly the cell phone signals
are quite weak due to farm being located in a hilly terrain .
But for any pressing communication needs of a guest, the owner provides a dongle that works at one spot in the farm .
The farm has 5 cows and a 3 1/2 year old mascot named simba, who is adoring and is a tame boxer. His main interest is to take the guests around the farm and showing off the land with pride .
He loves spending time with the guests. He now has a new female comany ,a three and a half month old boxer named smokie .Together they shower lot of affection in guests who love dogs and would like to get close to them .
The farm has its own seasonal waterfall and a stream .Its a great experience for guests to bathe under the falls when there is water flow after rains in the hills above .
The food served here is both vegetarian and non vegetarian Indian with preset menus.
The staff we found were very courteous and willing to go the extra mile to keep the guests happy .
The well designed swimming pool provides all the recreation needs of the guests.
If one is a writer , this is one place that will offer a salubrious atmosphere that will kindle their mind, to write in a free flow.
This homestay has hosted eminent ornitholist couple from USA and they have even published a book on the
Birds that abound in this area .
This farm is very close to other tourist attractions like Top slip, that is also known as Indhira Ghandhi wild life sanctuary , Aliyar dam and valparai hill station.
These tourist spots are all in the ambit of a day trip, if one is interested .
Personally speaking, my family of twelve came here for a four day holiday and credit to this place , time has flown.
The farm also offers the facility of cycling around the farm and it is the best way to go for bird watching .
Malabar squirrels abound this place
And some times, wild elphants too roam out side the bounded perimeter of the farm at night .
The farm has two jeeps in which the tourists are given a trip around the 500 acre farm .
This farm can be reached from coimbatore international airport or Pollachi Railway station .
Its really a home away from home and the place is ideal for a good family bonding, like we are doing at present !
I strongly recommend this place for a good quiet family holiday away from
the usual commercial area in a green forest like area that will be rejuvenating to the mind and body.
Back from a calm and rejuvenating break at the Banyan Tree Farmstay, thanks to the manager Mr.Balu who was very courteous and ensured we had a comfortable stay.
The rooms were spacious. The bathrooms too were spacious and clean... stacked with basic necessities.
The food served was homely and very tasty... the daily spread was decided after getting our requirements and indeed exceeded our expectations.... in terms of quality and variety.
The highlight of this place was the calm and serene surroundings, filled with chirping noises of different birds and the occasional noises by peacocks.
The evening walks (guided by the property staff and the very friendly boxer) across several plantations in the property and the neighbouring forest reserves were an activity we enjoyed.
I would certainly recommend this place to people who want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life and look forward to connecting with nature.... even if it's for a short while.
The clean and fairly large pool (with a jaccuzzi & baby pool) is an added amenity.
Kudos to Mr.Prabhu for maintaining such a nice property.
Not for you if you if you want hot water for bathing or cold water to drink. Large room with air conditioning. Lovely, quiet location. Great swimming pool. Pleasant meals. I found the owner, who showed me round the estate, and welcomed me into his home, charming. The service could have been better - we asked for ice for the cool box in the car, but none was forthcoming [a problem for me with dehydration].
