My wife and I went to Quebec City to watch the UCI professional Grand Prix des Cyclists on September 12 and 13, which is almost an annual event for us. Given the route is around the old city and the Plains of Abraham, we try to stay in Vieux Quebec. Although currently a “one-star” at the time of this review, we decided on Hotel Maison Sainte-Ursule. We were glad we did. We were greeted by Rene who couldn’t have been more pleasant or helpful. Like many small places in the old city, there is no parking on site, so you are directed to use one of a few underground public parking lots. On our first pass, the nearest was full. Upon returning, although he didn’t have to, Rene actually drove with another guest (we followed) to the next lot, who was clearly flustered about negotiating old Quebec. To put it into perspective, parking was about a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel, so best to drop your luggage off first. We arrived back to find that Rene had already put our luggage in our room before he left with us. Very kind and attentive. The hotel has a main building on the street, as well as other rooms with separate entrances from an interior courtyard. I cannot speak for the main building as we did not see that. We had a beautiful room on the interior on the second floor, with french doors that faced the courtyard. My wife and I sat at the table with the doors open over a nice bottle of wine and enjoyed a beautiful early fall afternoon before venturing into old Quebec. Perfect. The room was newly renovated and, in our past experience, quite large for the old city. The bathroom was huge, and the room exceptionally clean. My only complaint was both my wife and I found the mattress very hard, so sleep was a little broken at times. I would recommend the hotel address this, as folks are there mainly as a place to spend the night. To my knowledge, there were no dining services, although in the old city, we would not have used them. However, when we needed anything (plates, cutlery, wine opener) the staff gladly provided. Notwithstanding the mattress, given the room, location, and staff, I can do nothing but highly recommend this hotel (ask for an interior room).

Best location we could find to points of interest in old quebec. We came by train and it was a 7.00 cab trip to our room. We stayed in room 9. Garden doors main floor open up to terrence. Room had 2 big beds firm but comfortable. Very clean. Yes we found rooms for same price that offered many amentities but they would require transportation daily to things we wanted to see and do. No air but weather great and 2 big fans.

We had a good stay in Room 4. Older small room with small bathroom. Up two flights of small stairs and no elevator. It was built in 1750’s so modern things not expected.

The best part was the location to the boardwalk at Chateau Frontenac and the many nearby restaurants on St. Louis.

Would be nice to have parking but had to go a few blocks away for $18 24 hour parking.

The WIFI was very good. Nice quaint hotel if you want the experience but would probably choose somewhere else next time.

No air conditioning which was ok for us in early June, but must be deadly in a heatwave.

Best reason to choose here is location...

This was such a great position for exploring Quebec City. It is very cheap but perfectly adequate if, like us, you don't spend a lot of time in your room. Probably the best shower in all the hotels we stayed in around Canada. Lots of places to eat nearby and so easy to walk to any city sights. we arrived by train and just walked up from the station with our cases which took about 15 minutes.

Stayed 1 night here. Smack dab in Old Quebec City which makes it super convenient if you need a short break and to freshen up. Cozy, clean and well-maintained room in which everything works. Free coffee, free wifi and friendly staff are added bonuses considering the price. Rooms open into small garden area. Will stay again.
