I was with a small tour group and half of stayed at Dhafna. We had a basic but very large, nicely furnished room on the 2nd floor (there are only 3 rooms). It's recently renovated building - be sure to ask to see "before" pictures. What made Dhafna special: The downstairs kitchen/common room we could gather in, the incredible breakfasts, and the host's hospitality. We made tea in the afternoon and I'm sure they'd let you use their refrigerator for small items.
Remember that Italian hotels don't necessarily have comparable amenities to US hotels. You may need to ask for extra towels, and it never hurts to bring your own bar of soap and shampoo if you care about those things. A balancing factor is that there are bidets! One fault that needs to be addressed is that the downstairs bedroom has a sofa bed, not a traditional one.
There are three well appointed rooms all with en suites. The hosts are delightful and welcoming. The breakfast is authentic Italian all prepared by them. The hosts provide their own red wine at a modest price, which we enjoyed with our anti-pasta lunch in the dining room. Enjoyed hearing about the history of the house and admired many items on display that had been used by Giacommas grandfather.
I stayed two nights at the Dhafna B & B. The view from my room was spectacular. The room was elegantly decorated. The host and hostess were lovely people and the breakfast they prepared was scrumptious! I "loved" this place!!! It was also close to the center of town. The walk back was uphill but great after eating a big dinner. I would highly recommend this B and B. Thank you for a delightful stay.
Giacomo and Rossana, thank you for a fantastic stay at your B&B!The rooms are made with great care and style, everything is thought of. The view of our room was unreal! The breakfast with homemade pies and fresh bread and delicious local products is the best we had in a long while.
And above all, you both are so welcoming, warm and kind people. Hope to be back soon and highly recommended for anyone who wants to spend a few unforgettable days in Civita.
I stayed here as a part of a tour of Calabria. The friendly couple who operate this small B & B is delightful. It is located above much of the town of Civita with wonderful views of the town from the B & B. The breakfast provided was a feast with wonderful coffee and many options for a hearty meal. There are 3 rooms available, each with its own well-maintained bathroom. I had a very restful sleep. It is a short downhill trek to the main square of Civita via tiny streets. There is a small staircase to enter the front door with one room on that floor and two other rooms above the entry room.
