Scam! Scam! Scam! You’ve been warned!!
Read all the reviews for its sister resort, Peninsula Bay Resort and you get the clear picture.
Their scam approach may vary a little towards different victims of theirs but they all all have similar pattern.
You get approached unsuspectedly by a local polite friendly local (shopping mall or other public places).. offered free raffle tickets endorsed by the hotel group, backed up with glossy marketing pamphlet of Peninsula Bay resort.. Your raffle ticket somehow won you either one of top 2 prizes ie 1 week resort holiday or ipad or USD worth of vouchers to be used at the shopping mall. The person would pretend to be soooo genuinely shocked and happy for you.. you would be told to claim the prize at the mall for convenience however somehow they then remember that for the top prize you need to claim at the hotel as it needs to be signed off by their GM.. and that the hotel has its own taxi at the mall and would take you there now and drop you off anywhere upon return.
That’s where your hell would start if you get on to their car..
Once you are in the car, you then get sold story of sparing 15-20 mins for hotel room tour etc .. you get dropped off in their newest secluded resort ie Peninsula Bay Resort; where you have to walk far outside to get a taxi if you decide to escape or leave them. You get met by someone who then tried to sell you hotel’s membership which is actually a timeshare.. they would present all misleading information and would get pushier and pushier .. wont let you go until at least an hour if not more..
Do NOT sign or pay anything! All non-refundable and the misleading information hiding much facts. You would notice in the contract (if you carefully read everything, which they would try to distract you) that the timeshare is actually for its old sister resort Peninsula Beach resort.
You’ve been warned! Avoid them as much as possible! You would waste at least 2-3 hours just being hassled to buy their timeshare and as soon as they realise that you can;t be their victim then you'll see their rudeness and get left there and worse, no free transport back. If you do win anything from the raffles, it's actually not ipad nor holiday, but their IN-HOUSE printed discount vouchers for the hotel's own tour packages ... hahaha what a joke!
They have no conscience and I hope karma would get them back for ripping people off.
My first visit to Bali December 2019 at Peninsula Beach Resort. Totally loved the beachfront location and the handiness of its location to restaurants, shops and other amenities.
The resort ground is beautifully and immaculately kept. Apartments are older Balinese style , clean, partial kitchen (no laundry in apartment, hair dryer, iron and ironing board on request from reception. ). All apartments have balcony, tv in all rooms (with huge numbers over channels),air-condition in all room, free 1Lt water per apartment per day.
Love the large swimming pool with 3 areas of in pool spa and swim up bar ( happy hour 4pm - 6pm everyday) , plenty of sun-bed around pool and beach area and water spot close by. Fabulous sunrise from the beach and easy walk around from resorts to resorts.
Lots of great restaurants just outside the resort, even tho there are 3 resort restaurants.
Resort activities everyday . Housekeeping everyday, towel change on Wednesday and Sunday sheet change . Staffs are always friendly and helpful. There is a resort charge of about $8.8USD / day/ person .
I would definitely comeback and highly recommended for anyone to visit the resort 😀
We spent Christmas here and it was a very relaxing holiday. All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The resort is right on a beautiful sandy beach and is built in a U-shape so that all balconies can view the garden, beach and sea. There are four levels serviced by lifts and we were in room 143, which was very spacious and had a well equiped kitchen.
There are plenty of beach activities and a great swimming pool complete with a sunken bar, as well as plenty of sunbeds around the pool and on the beach. Two restaurants, another bar that does snacks and has a happy hour and makes some great cocktails. There is a sports bar at the front of the hotel, which is also open to the public. Room service also has a full menu and our meals arrived very quickly the one time we used it.
They run some special activities and buffets.
There are several mini-marts where you can buy food to cook in your apartment. The resorts food and drink prices were quite reasonable.
We will definitely return.
I guess there are people who love reports and good luck to them, but if this is what resorts are, then I can do without.
Prices for everything on site is much higher than elsewhere in Bali.
There is a notice in the room stating that, you canNOT use your own driver without getting consent from the management. I will use whatever driver I want. No hotel has the right to tell me who I must use.
The notice also states that if there are any breakages, then the replacement cost will be the price plus 50%. Now, I understand expecting guests to pay for anything that is broken, but trying to profit from it beggars belief.
We have never before stayed in a place that tries so hard to limit our options on what we do and where we spend our money.
I can't remember many of the other things on this "list of rules", but I will certainly never stay here again.
And Lastly, we are well aware of the methods used in Bali to get people in to timeshares. It's absolutely criminal, but the last thing I want, when I'm on holiday and trying to enjoy myself, is to receive letters and then phone calls from someone who's job is clearly only to try to sign people up to this sort of stuff. I'm sure there are people who like timeshare, but personally, if you have to use trickery and deception to get people to sign up, then there is clearly something shady going on.
The staff here seem very nice. The resort is clean and comfortable, but I would never return or recommend it to anyone else.
I stayed here for a week on a timeshare exchange and couldn't be more happier with the hotel and facilities. The resort has a lovely friendly atmosphere. Greeted on arrival as my taxi pulled up, my bags were taken to my studio room. Reception area is very grand and has amazing views of garden below, & looking out to the pool and beach- spectacular. Rooms are very large and spacious, it is older Balinese style with lots of wood furniture but very nice and clean. Large comfortable bed and two couches with big size TV and small kitchenette (no microwave). Bathroom a bit dated, but had large shower and was clean. Also large balcony with two comfy chairs and table. My room on the first floor was located near the front of the property so close to reception and main shopping/restaurant strip which was convenient, but further from beach and pool. I did have some water views from my balcony and i think most of the rooms would they way they all face out in beach direction. Rooms closer to beach would get better views. My room was near the elevator and walkway and i did hear a bit of noise from there with people and housekeeping trolleys coming past, that would be my only complaint. Housekeeping are wonderful and do a great job and happy to provide extra water, or replace towels if needed. One large litre bottle of water provided daily in room.
The pool area is marvellous with lots of trees for shade, swim up bar and plenty of space. Always lots of sun lounges free during the day and the water is a nice temperature. Beach towels are avaliable which you have to sign for and return.
Service from the restaurant near pool is exceptional with waiters regularly walking around poolside asking if you want a drink order. Food and drink prices are reasonable for hotel and include tax which is great. I had a couple of meals at Golden Beach restaurant and food was delicious. There are also two other restaurants in the resort. Resort also hosts several theme events during the week such as trivia, karaoke, and a movie night.
Location wise there are many great restaurants, spas, & shops on main street right outside the resort, and a reputable BMC money changer about 200m down past the Nikko hotel. Hotel security are great and will help you cross the road in peak traffic times. Its also easy to get Blue bird taxis- reception is also happy to call one.
Unfortunately the Beach at the resort is a big disappointment and that's why I'm only giving 4/5 stars. It's very tidal and even when the tide is in, it's not very swimmable as it's shallow with lots of seaweed. But its still a nice view to look out at the ocean and the pool is the best place to cool off.
Overall had a fantastic stay here and would recommend.
