... web page there is, but no one has given any reviews about bicycles. Also, is the water safe to drink in the room? Getting mixed reviews about the water on the Island. Thanks!

Due to its location the Aro'a offers beautiful views of the sunset. Especially here the beach is a lot nicer than at Muri. There is also some decent snorkeling to be had here and easy access from the beach.
The host, Steve, really made us feel welcome. He made our short stay very comfortable and nothing seemed to much. We were able to extend our check out time till 6pm with no problem and at a very reasonable price.
The room itself was comfortable, clean and with a nice view of the ocean.
Personally, I believe the rooms need an update. I won't stop from staying here again though.
Thank you for the hospitality shown, greatly appreciated.
There was only one small issue and that wasn't really Aro'as fault. As agreed with the transfer company, we would be picked up at 6pm. Somehow this became 9pm??? This would have left very little time for check in for our flight.
After much discussion it was agreed that we would be picked up at 8:00pm. When the transfer company finally showed up it was 8:30pm. Not impressed.
We won't be using Hoff transfer company again. Taxis aren't much more expensive and will get where you want at a time of your choice. Instead of being dictated too?!

From the moment I arrived I was hooked! I was greeted so warmly and shown to my gorgeous lagoon view room. It was very clean and so comfortable. There was a wee fruit basket waiting for me too. The room was lovely, not a single fault. Breakfast each morning was great, fruit and a tasty treat (banana bread, doughnut or cake) with toast and delicious coffee. All with a view of the beach.
Every single person who works here was so friendly and special. Special shout out to Stephanie and Alone who made me laugh every day. And Dexter the dog who I almost tried to smuggle home with me! Steve and Geraldine the owners are delightful and made sure I was always happy and comfortable.
The snorkeling right outside my door was the best I've ever experienced and all the equipment is provided to use.
The downsides- 1. I cried when I left because I felt like one of the family! 2. I already saving up for my next visit. I will never stay anywhere else on the island now!

Our first visit to the Cook Islands was made even more special by our stay at Aroa Beachside Inn. Steve, Geraldine and their friendly staff knew each of their guests names. Service was excellent. From the moment I booked our accommodation my questions were answered promptly and during our stay nothing was too much trouble if you need anything organised. Their local knowledge is shared with you and their sense of humour makes for a fun get together at breakfast or drinks/meals at the bar. The small complex suited us well as it created a very relaxing atmosphere. With the beach right at your backyard, what more can you ask for? Snorkel masks/shoes and kayaks are available for guests free of charge. Our room was very clean and serviced everyday and the beds were comfortable. Highlights: watching the glorious sunset while having drinks/meals at the Shipwreck Hut, music nights (we were lucky enough to have Steve & Geraldine's talented son perform as well while he was visiting), Dexter the dog, Sunday omelette breakfast. Lows: missed seeing the whale while we were out visiting other sights on the island!! (maybe next time...)
Meitaki maata for sharing your love of the Cook Islands with us.

Lovely to hear from you and thank you so much for your fantastic review, your comments are really appreciated. I was a real pleasure having you both stay with us and we are genuinely happy that you had a great holiday.
In respect to missing the whales, great excuse (if you need one) for coming back to see us again, hopefully very soon.

The location is perfect, right on the beach with an amazing view from our balcony, I couldn't have asked for any more. The snokleing off the beach outside our room was the best I experienced on the island - large schools of beautifully coloured fish, coral and even a young Giant Clam! The service was so friendly and welcoming, Geraldine and Steve have created something very special here. We'll be back soon....

We had stayed here last year and loved the place, room 107. This year not so much it started as soon as we arrived on the Friday afternoon, the driver picked us up and greeted us with leis full of ants!
There was no one to greet us just told to go to 107 by the driver, this didn't happen last year.
We had arranged two days in Aitutaki in the middle of our stay at the Aroa, we wanted room 107 again beachfront which our travel agent had confirmed this for both stays and it was printed on our itinerary.
I asked Steve if we could store our luggage with them when we left for Aitutaki until our return stay "yes " he told us, leave your luggage in the room as it's not booked out.
On the Sunday we were told put our luggage in the office as the room has been booked since August, and you will have to go into room 108 on your return. We showed them our itinerary which clearly stated we where in room 107 when we came back.
When we questioned Steve about him telling us that the room hadn't been booked and that we could leave our luggage in there and was ours when we returned. His reply "Oh I didn't know". What? Your the manager you should know.
So on our return from Aitutaki our transfer which had been arranged by the Aroa didn't turn up. We rang the office and Steve did come out to pick us up.
We were then put in room 108 ......on the Thursday Steve came to see us telling us we could have room 107 again as it was vacant. By this time we were settled in room 108, and we didn't want to move again. We looked at each other shook our heads and wondered what was that all about, when they had made such a fuss that our travel agent had got it wrong and we couldn't have that room.
On the whole we found our stay quite stressful, we were then concerned our lift to the airport early Saturday morning might not turn up as it was the same people who forgot to pick us up on our trip from Aitutaki.
The whole atmosphere was very disappointing, and I do object when you go and question things for my husband to be called "Here he comes pain in the butt" a comment made from one of the staff.
On receiving our bill we had to question the cost of the bbq $25 stated on the price list in our room, we were charged $30 we were told prices had gone up. They did honour the $25 as it was on the price list in our room.
So we paid our bill never got our change, told it would be brought to our room. It was only $2 not much I know..but it's the principal of it. So please put that in the tip jar for the girls.
So sorry to say we won't be back we will come back to Rarotonga but will stay somewhere new. the rooms also need to be refurbished they are tired and old, the dishcloths and towels need to be white not grey.
We love Rarotonga we always will, paradise. We just won't stay here again!

Kia Orana Mary W,
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us, we value your comments.
I think we had some misunderstandings.
As we explained to you at the time, we never guarantee a particular room we only guarantee a room category (we have 2 types of rooms). Your booking was for a Beachside Deluxe room. We try to accommodate our guests’ request for a particular rooms but this is not always possible. On the booking that we received from your travel agent there was no request for you to stay in any particular room.
You said that you arranged 2 days in Aitutaki in the middle of your stay therefore you had 1 booking of 2 x stays of 3 days each. I clearly said to you that you could leave your bags in that room IF it wasn’t booked. On checking (as I don’t carry every ones booking details in my head) I found out the room had been booked by someone else months before you made your booking.
We were never obliged to keep your bags here but we did that as a favour to you at no cost.
I must apologise again that the company that manage our airport transfers were not there to collect you when you got back from Aitutaki. On finding out there was a problem I was at the airport in less than 10 minutes to collect you personally.
As you clearly wanted to stay in a particular room, when our guests who had booked that room, back in August last year left, we prepared that room for you. One of my staff spoke to you to let you know that you could move into that room. As you didn’t move, I came over to speak to you to make sure that you knew we were able to accommodate your request to move as this seemed to be a big issue for you. After all of that you decided not to move. I was trying to be helpful and accommodating.
When your husband paid your final bill he paid with cash and there was $1.60 change As we do not keep cash in the office, one of my staff said that she would bring $2.00 over to you but your husband said not to bother and to put it in the tip jar. So that’s what she did. Please accept my apology for one of my staff following your husband’s instructions.
Regarding the towels, it is a shame that you didn’t bring this to our attention during your stay so that we could have rectified the matter.
Kia manuia,
Steve, Geraldine and our staff.

Hi, Steve here, owner of the Aro'a Beachside Inn. Sorry no bicycles at the resort bit there is a bike rental place a couple of hundred metres away. Water is safe to drink at the resort, some places is ok, others not. Best to check.
Hope to see you soon.
Kia Orana Rachel,
Steve here, owner of the Aro'a Beachside Inn.
Thanks for your question. You can have 2 beds in the Oceanview Studio, we have single beds that we put into the rooms for exactly this reason. We recently had people staying that did exactly what you are requesting and it worked very well for them.
There is a bus stop right outside the resort (the resort is a bus stop) so no problem.
Look forward to seeing your booking for November.
Thanks again,
Steve
Hi, yes there is a 2 bedroom unit that will be available to book early in 2015.
