Very beautiful hotel with an amazing view of the volcano of Santorini. Excellent customer service, all staff were very friendly and willing to please you. They helped us to rent a car, booked a range of activities for us and they recommended the best places to visit on the island.
We rented a room with a jacuzzi in the balcony which is highly recommended! The hotel has its own parking which is very convenient (compared to other hotels on the cliffs that you have to walk long way carrying your luggages)
Overall great experience and I would definitely go again!
Last month, my kids and I took a little detour from our sail to Amorgos to head via ferry to Santorini. We loved the look of this place and from the moment we booked, they were in touch with warm welcomes and great communication about being ready for us when we arrived. When we got there, Michael greeted us kindly and explained that because we were only there for one night (arriving pretty late) and missed the pool hours, he had upgraded us so we would have our own jacuzzi on our patio. He and his team kitted out our room for 1 adult and two kids, and it was immaculate and gorgeous. He then helped us settle on a dinner option nearby and set up free transport for us to a charming seaside restaurant. My post title is due to the fact that Michael did all of this while managing a very worrisome situation - two guests had gotten so lost while out with their rental car that they couldn't be found and had missed their ferry. Michael was doing everything possible to find them (and once found, he found them lodging, new tickets and options for getting off the island and rejoining their planned itinerary, etc.). He was a consummate professional and very on the ball, managing guests while saving the day for the lost folks. He even shared a traditional Greek dessert made on only certain islands with the kids and me. The hotel breakfast was wonderful, and the entire experience was terrific. I am deeply impressed with Kalestesia Suites!
Look it is a little remote taxis are 10 euro down to village and another 10 euro back up but perfect if you have a car only 10 mins.
We decided to hire a quad! Very good service from the village nearby.
Loved the breakfast great quality and choices and the view!
The peace and quiet pure bliss , lovely pool area if you want to relax read a book they do not encourage jumping in pool etc just pure calm so nice, and exceptionally clean all over.
As in a previous review i would stay here again but i would up grade our villa, bedroom too small and ceiling too low even though I did request in my booking upper level so maybe this was my own mistake!
Top marks to micheal the manager on calll for all queries.
The title of my review suggests I must have been before, but that isn't the case. I'm assuming so from the previous reviews and the original investment.
It was still good, don't get me wrong and the views really are to die for. I think value for money wise too it was overall very good when you compare to other areas on Santorini.
The original infrastructure suggests huge investment, from a fully set up restaurant and pool bar to an underground spa area and what appeared to be a wine tasting/events space.
However not all of these things were functioning anymore. For example we were only spending 2 nights having spent two weeks touring and just wanted to stay put. With a well rated restaurant on site we expected to be able to to accomplish this, but the restaurant no longer runs as a restaurant other than breakfast and bar snacks. Similarly the pool bar when stayed was only open from 10.30am to 6.00pm, which meant you couldn't even get a drink to enjoy the sunset. Pretty poor really when on Santorini, the very thing it is famous for. (When we visited sunset was around 7.15) I believe another person was being hired to extend the hours but we were already late July, not exactly out of season?
The pool area itself was excellent and certainly allowed us to enjoy two days resting and sunbathing. The set up means that for the most part even when it was windy it was quite well protected which was excellent.
Breakfast was great, abundant. Although not being able to get an espresso or cappuccino in the morning was a miss, we had to wait until the beach bar opened for that! Just filter coffee which wasn't to my taste. Fabulous freddo espressos during the day though!
The rooms themselves were very big, at least ours was, and the bathroom spacious enough and the whole thing exceptionally clean. It appeared though that perhaps in the past they were meant as self catering apts The kitchenette area had an extractor hood yet no hob? And the supplies were just a couple of glasses, a couple of side plates, cups, cutlery and a bottle opener. A kettle and a few sugars completed the offering. I'm therefore not sure what it was trying to offer with so much space given over to the living area and yet so few utensils. The bedroom area in ours (and I think most) is upstairs occupying the domed space. I guess this is traditional, although for me with so much space downstairs it felt a little strange to be stooping in the bedroom area.
Would I stay again? Probably not, I'd push the budget a tiny bit further and try one of the new resorts just down the hill.
I cannot say enough good things about our experience at Kalestesia Suites!! Everything was wonderful, the hosts, the food, the scenery; just all of it! It was absolutely beautiful and clean and welcoming! Honestly, I cant think of a better place to stay! We loved being out of the touristy areas because Santorini is so small when we wanted to do touristy things, everything is only a short drive away.
It was actually very easy to find, however our gps took us an incredibly difficult way on arrival from the airport, but once we learned the lay of the land, it was super easy. If renting a car however, be sure that it is a small one - the road leading up to Kalestesia Suites has an incredibly tight corner between two buildings that wide or long vehicles won't be able to pass through.
We would love to stay there again!!!
